Is there such a thing as cordless/battery operated hair straighteners so I can do my hair on the train?

I know, snigger all you like but I start a big commute from Monday and I intend doing make up and hair on the train, so, do these exist? What type is best? Where can I buy them (must be tomorrow so not online but can get to major dept stores)

Thanks. Feel free to take the piss but every second will count.

Now that is the type of question I like to see on mn A 'BRAUN INDEPENDENT' except a straightener, I can't believe they haven't invented one yet.

You can get gas cylinder powered ones. I bet the other commuters will love watching you put your slap on. Don't forget your mirror

Are you really going to straighten your hair on the train???

MrsBadger · 27/10/2007 19:47

braun and babyliss both do them

sorry dd kicking off

WideWebWitch · 27/10/2007 19:51

Yep, I really am going to do both on the train. In first class. I don't give a fk what people think of me, I don't have time to do it at home and with a 1hr 40 commute I reckon the train is the time to do these tedious tasks. Make up for me is about 5 mins: moisturiser, foundation, touche eclat, eyeshadow, eyelash curlers, (this'll be me except I'm blonde, bet everyone's too embarrassed to look at me

I'd wake up 5 mins earlier and sleep on the train

Piffle · 27/10/2007 19:59

do it the night before and sleep on your back

pointydog · 27/10/2007 20:02

what about the hair, though, piffle?

sleep upright in a chair

oooggs · 27/10/2007 20:05

I've got this one and did use it when I had the time - oh those many moons ago

Piffle · 27/10/2007 20:06

hair is easily sorted by silk pillowcases

Lilymaid · 27/10/2007 20:08

Snigger. I could be the person watching you put your make up on the train. When I see people doing this (and one on my train uses an eyelash curler) I'm usually thinking - "well, all that effort and she looks no better than when she started". I really don't think that using a hot brush/straighteners would be very safe (unless you have a very quiet train). Do what I do. Put the slap etc on in the car park before you get on the train!

pointydog · 27/10/2007 20:09

oo yes. Health and safety!

Lilymaid · 27/10/2007 20:12

Though if she can afford First Class I give her full permission to burn the rich b.....ds.

pointydog · 27/10/2007 20:13

and I'm sure health and safety doesn't apply to first-classers. They'll make up their own rules.

WideWebWitch · 27/10/2007 21:16

no, no health and safety doesn't apply in first class. Hey if you see me and I look no different DO speak up, it'll save another 10 minutes!
