Anyone know one please? I know eBay but that can be a bit pricey... :D I've literally just spent £12 on a sample that I'm not even keen on!!

Thanks!

Bloom is great for niche/indie perfumes

DK123 · 09/01/2021 18:30

@MissBattleaxe @mynewusernameisthis
Thank you! I'm looking for Armani my way, Bulgari Mon Jasmine Noir, YSL libre and a couple of the Salvatore ferragamo signora ones to try! Having read about the notes in them, I think there's a good chance I'd like them (but not sure enough to buy without trying!) I couldn't find much on eBay in the way of samples.

mynewusernameisthis · 09/01/2021 18:59

@MissBattleaxe thank you Grin I love Jo Malone peony and blush suede, I also loved Prada candy florale but it didn't last long enough on me (like minutes!). I like pretty scents, feminine, day scents, not in your face. I also like l'occitane arlesienne and floral street electric rhubarb, and Coco mademoiselle for evenings only. So interested to see what you come up with!

@mynewusernameisthis thank you!!

Purpleblondelady · 09/01/2021 21:14

I knew that I shouldn't have read this thread, I feel like I've fallen down a rabbit hole! I haven't really worn perfume for years because my favourite was discontinued and I've spent years trying to find something similar, but I think I've changed my tastes since then.

Thismustbelove · 10/01/2021 00:16

MissBattleaxe Being able to redeem a voucher sounds excellent.

How do I pick a box? Are the boxes completely mixed or are different boxes aimed at certain preferences?

MissBattleaxe · 10/01/2021 11:49

@Thismustbelove the boxes are themed, so in the past they've had Launches We Love, which was current launches last year such as Prada, Marc Jacobs etc. They launch new ones throughout the year, so if you sign up to their mailing list you'll get an email. My current favourite in the Niche V box, full of lesser known or indie perfume houses.

MissBattleaxe · 10/01/2021 11:49

@Purpleblondelady What was your favourite? I might know something similar.

MissBattleaxe · 10/01/2021 11:56

@mynewusernameisthis Challenge accepted!

Delina Parfums de Marly, but it is £££ -roses and rhubarb.
Marc Jacobs Perfect: flowers and rhubarb
Miller Harris Lost in the City: gorgeous rhubarby, fresh, green floral.

floaty airy petals:
Zara Waterlily teadress: as it sounds. Gorgeously pretty
Chanel Chance: any of them are great, but I like the original best.
Escada especially Delicate Notes: beautiful airy floral and very reasonable on allbeauty and Fragrance Direct.

Hope this helps!

Purpleblondelady · 10/01/2021 13:13

@MissBattleaxe it was Lancome Magnifique. I don't think it was for everyone hence it being discontinued! I loved my first bottle of it, then I felt that it had gone off near the end. I got a 2nd bottle after it was discontinued but wasn't the same. I wonder if maybe pregnancy had changed my sense of smell.

MissBattleaxe · 10/01/2021 13:48

@Purpleblondelady Right, well I haven't smelled Magnifique myself but according to trusty Fragrantica, Mac Ruby Woo and Lancôme Tresor are similar. Hope that helps a bit!

EuroTrashed · 10/01/2021 13:53

There’s an insta page called you smell great what is it? which gives lots of information on samples but generally high end ones (££ samples let alone the actual perfume!)

MisiaMisia · 10/01/2021 14:22

You can get samples from Notino.
Penhaligon's has got sample section: 4 samples, pay delivery only (around £5)
Feelunique Pick'n'Mix 5 samples for £4 (suspended currently)
Fragrance Shop sample selector 3 for £3 (not much choice atm)
For newest releases I very often get an ad on FB to sign up for a free sample via SoPost.
Perfume Society is great.

My general advice for Ebay is to add a sample/whatever you want to buy to your watched items and wait as very often the seller would send an offer reducing the price.

Purpleblondelady · 10/01/2021 15:00

Thabks @MissBattleaxe, I don't think I even knew that MAC did perfume. I'm not sure if it's even a perfume I would go for anymore, it was quite heavy, definitely an autumn/winter, evening fragrance.

Purpleblondelady · 10/01/2021 15:11

I added a sample to my ebay watch list late last night (Tocca Guilietta) and this morning they sent me an offer, only 5% so it's only a few pence. It the 'last one' though Hmm so I am tempted.

MissBattleaxe · 10/01/2021 16:22

@Purpleblondelady well they might be discontinued, but you can still track them down.

noodlezoodle · 10/01/2021 21:33

The Perfumed Court. I've bought from them a couple of times - you can choose whichever size you want and I think they basically decant them from a full-sized perfume.

SOLINVICTUS · 10/01/2021 22:56

I've used lots of the above and would add Skins which is a Netherlands based skincare and perfume retailer. They've cut down on how many samples they offer now but still have a fair few.
Also Scent Samples UK - I was introduced to them by one of the perfumistas when I used to post on there, she knew them personally.
Rouillier White also do samples, and there's a fab German site called...something I'll have to go and look up in my email!

SOLINVICTUS · 10/01/2021 22:58

www.ausliebezumduft.de/?___store=english

There we go.

Purpleblondelady · 10/01/2021 23:24

I ordered the Ebay sample. I have also ordered a Perfumer's Choice sample for 1p from superdrug! It seems that Superdrug often offer different samples for a penny. It's only 1ml but it all helps in figuring out what I do and don't like.

grannysbay · 10/01/2021 23:27

Does anyone have any recommendations for Gallivant scents? There seem to be several with pepper notes, which us not something I am familiar with

mynewusernameisthis · 11/01/2021 06:30

Lovely! Thank you @missbattleaxe I'll be adding these to my list 😘

mynewusernameisthis · 11/01/2021 06:30

Thank you all for more website suggestions too, I think it'll be a busy weekend browsing all of these!

MissBattleaxe · 11/01/2021 14:04

@grannysbay Gallivant is a wonderful brand and only one or two have a pepper note. They released Bukhara recently and it went down a storm- really beautiful iris scent. London is leather , roses and IMO, rain. Brooklyn is lemony, limey, Tel Aviv is wonderfully uplifting and fruity.. I could go on, but they do a great discovery set for £25 and they give you £25 back to spend on the site. Nick Steward, the founder is lovely.
