Best foundation for older skin

My usual foundation is starting to look 'wrong' I'm 50 now and have been using the same brand for years so I suspect it's my age and skin changing that's the issue.

What and how do you use? Do you also use a powder?

I don't mind paying for the right one. Just looking for a lightweight foundation, or would I be better off with BB cream?

something lighter than a full foundation.

I use Omorivcza cc cream, gives a nice coverage, but isn’t heavy and doesn’t sit or cake on my face.

I use Clinique foundation or tinted moisturiser - Superbalanced is my winter go to, very dewy. In the summer I use Even Better or Even Better glow. I like a moist non matt look, and all these give that. I've been using the dramatically different moisturise for nearly 40 years, it is quite wonderful.

Frezyderm tinted SPF 30. Not technically a foundation but lovely coverage and beautiful texture.

My make up was starting to look a bit cakey now I'm older but I need something lasting as my skin is quite blemished. I found mixing Clarins SOS Primer with my usual foundation (Estee Lauder Doublewear) made it lighter and more dewy. Perhaps try mixing a bit of primer in with your usual foundation before you change completely ? Also I don't use powder and I do get rid of the peach fuzz.

That's a good idea @TheDogsMother Estée Lauder is what I use at the moment

I hate shopping for foundation and have wasted so much money over the years on ones that were wrong. I was having a make up trial a couple of months ago (recent covid wedding) and the beauty therapist showed me this tip. I was delighted with it Smile. I guess it would work with other primers but the SOS one does have a glow to it. If you do decide to try it I would go for the colourless one. They also do tinted ones which is why I mention it.

Sorry for bumping a thread that is a little bit old, still 2021 though so I hope I won’t get into too much trouble!

Did you find anything good?

My makeup has started to look ‘wrong’ too. I always wore loads every day and have not been wearing very much for the last year due to lockdown, but now I have started wearing it and it looks absolutely awful on me. It’s making me look worse!!! Even the eyeshadow looks wrong. I need a total overhaul but the make up counters will not being doing consultations until at least next year they said.

I think I need a lighter non matte foundation now at this stage.

Did anyone find anything good that worked well for skin 40/50+

Have a look on utube - there are a few ladies who do make up for over 50s - one maybe called Hot and Flashy I think.

Depending on how good your skin is I think glossier skin tint is the best. It offers no coverage really but just makes you look so much better and takes the edge off.
If you need coverage I would think chantecaille future skin is AMAZING but it is expensive but it last years and you only need a tiny bit
Also use a sponge, it evens out the coverage and makes sure the product doesn't seep into the wrinkles making them look worse
