Hi,
I have been using No 7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex (which says it contains 0.3% pure Retinol). I am almost finished the tube and am ready to try the next step up - what is next?? I find them too confusing.
I have used one from the Ordinary in the past but not sure which one and I didn't like the formulation. It was not the squalene one, it was before that was launched.
I have very, very oily skin and am in early forties, already wear sunscreen etc. Which retinol/ retinoid is for me?

I don't know much about retinols but thinking of trying the medik8 ones. They have a big range and you can work your way up through different strengths.

Medik8 are also confusing - how do you know what encapsulated retinaldehyde converts to compared to other retinol?

Medik8 Crystal Retinal is incredible. You can start low, but 3 I found is very gentle and I didn’t have any purging etc.

Another option is getting prescription strength tretinoin acid from Dermatica or Skin+Me. You do a consult first, then a derm will tailor the prescription to what you need. It’s £20 a month and the only thing that has proven results.

I use the retinoids tretinoin from dermatica. It’s prescription only but you pay like £12 a month for a monthly supply. It’s stronger than over the counter retinoids.

Am I ready for the prescription strength one @Diadora30 and @Ostryga? Or will that be part of the consultation?

I see that Dermatica have a free trial so I’ll try that, thanks!

They start you off on a very small amount, and you use it twice and week and build up. I believe the initial prescription is 0.025 + whatever other ingredients they think you might need, like azeliac acid etc.

I have completed the consultation so now just waiting eagerly

My prescription is 0.25 tretinoin with niacinamide. I’ve not had any reaction to definitely worth it for the free trial.

Diadora30 · 07/01/2021 12:15

0.025 I mean. My next one will be 0.5

Niconacotaco · 07/01/2021 18:32

Am looking forward to trying it
