What will help my forehead? *pic included*

I've just had a good luck at my face and quite alarmed at how aged it looks, I'm 32.

Does anyone have any recommendations to help make this look better please? I just feel wrinkles are starting to set in and my pores look really big.

I do need to drink more water, currently exfoliate once a week and moisturise about twice with a basic cream.

@Banana0pancakes I'm 32 as well and I honestly don't think you look 'aged'! Now is definitely the time to start with the serious skincare though if you're worried.

I'm really no expert at all, I can run through my routine though, if that helps? I have what I'd call normal/combination skin, that is probably a bit dehydrated after drinking far too much during the lockdowns. People tell me I look young but I'm noticing a difference and I think it's all the effects of the alcohol/pandemic! So I'm going (almost) teetotal and going to start drinking lots of water/healthy diet/multivitamins/lots of long walks and fresh air.

I use Aldi hot cloth cleanser (used to use Liz Earle but this is a fantastic dupe). I'm using a Garnier Aloe toner in the mornings, and have recently started using a Nuxe day cream for the first signs of ageing, which is lovely and light, and make up goes on nicely after. I try to remember to use an eye cream too, at the moment I've got neutrogena hydro boost eye cream which is nice and light. I try to use SPF on my face too- I like neutrogena clear face SPF 30. Then on with primer/makeup.

At night it's the same cleanser, with the toner, except every other night I change and use the nip and fab salicylic toner, which I find suits my skin nicely. I then use la Roche posay redermic eye cream, sometimes a bit of Liz Earle superskin and I've recently started using M&S formula ultimate sleep cream. I'm going careful with this as don't want it to cause breakouts but it makes my skin look and feel so lovely. I probably need to add in a serum but I don't think it's a bad basic routine. I can't claim the products aren't working when I've been drinking far too much and not looking after myself, so I'm hoping being healthier/drinking lots of water will help too!

I'm trying out a fringe.

doadeer · 03/01/2021 15:40

How do you exfoliate?

I think this is a good age to get serious about skincare, bare minimum I'd say is a good cleanse once or twice in evening, acid exfoliate a couple times a week, a serum and moisturiser. Plus Spf in the morning.

I really like Retinol to combat aging and I find vit c gives me a lovely glow.

Happy to recommend products if you want to get into it all! I'm a big skincare fan

Savlon on every night before bed. Apparently it is good for prevention also.

PurpleFrames · 03/01/2021 15:44

@doadeer please do share product ideas! Preferably only cruelty free if possible.

Pores are fine and totally normal.

For fine lines, use retinoids, even the prescription tretinoin (unless you are planning on getting pregnant) but they have to be used with factor 50SPF. Retinoids are one of the very few things scientifically proven to improve skin texture and lines because they increase cell turnover.

TheShyGuy · 03/01/2021 16:13

Obagi Clenziderm pore therapy and a good retinol.

Swaddlemeinplants · 03/01/2021 16:35

Fringe.
I’m 30 and my forehead is deeper lines than yours.
The fringe hides all 😉

PawPawNoodle · 03/01/2021 16:39

Don't get a fringe, there's nothing wrong with your forehead and if you're anything like me it'll make your forehead a greasy, spotty mess

Move to a chemical exfoliator if you haven't already. Make sure you clean your face well twice a day and moisture.

If you wear make up, a pore blurring primer will be good for evening out texture.

doadeer · 03/01/2021 18:18

I would use a BHA Exfoliate like Paula's Choice (you can get a small bottle for £8) as this is good for decongesting. (Comes after your cleanse)

In terms of a Vit C for the morning, if you want higher end I'd go for Medik8, you only need a small amount, on the budget end I like the Revolution one or La Roche Posay which is more midrange.

Cleanser wise, if your skin is more oily a gel Cleanser is good, my brother likes the green Vichy one. Or a milk can be nice, I like the Espa cleansing milk.

If you want to try a Retinol before going prescription strength I like Medik8 Crystal Retinol personally. Always wear Spf

Oh thank you everyone! I've been at work and didn't expect so many lovely replies. I'll get googling your suggestions, good shout on the spf

For those that asked, my skins pretty good overall. I wouldn't say dry or greasy so normal I guess. I very rarely get spots. I exfoliate with a face exfoloator, garnier I think, in the shower.

@Banana0pancakes cardinal sins! No physical exfoliators and no cleaning your face in the shower (unless you're doing it right)!

Exfoliating - if you use something like a scrub or a brush it can cause tiny tears in the skin (I'm sure there's a more medical way of putting it) and can make your skin oilier (hence larger pores).

Shower - often too hot for face, good for steaming the pores open but do the cleaning when you get out.

lilacmoon78 · 03/01/2021 22:43

Umm... my forehead looks just like this. I am 21

This is good advice. Also niacinamide is great for large pores
doadeer · 04/01/2021 08:31

Oh no please don't exfoliate in shower with a grainy one! That's so harsh for your skin.

Cleanse with warm water
Acid exfoliate
Moisturise
