Retinol and sunblock every single day.

I just use any cleanser, foaming or milk but I don’t use moisturiser.

alwaysstressed · 02/01/2021 09:00

Tretinion and sunscreen are the only things that work.

notsureifiam · 02/01/2021 09:09

Peptides so something like the ordinary buffet
A good hyalauronic acid to use on damp skin before moisturiser
Good spf
Obviously retinol is the best but if your skin can’t tolerate it then don’t underestimate the power of good hydration for plumping skin up. Plus there’s always Botox etc if you decide you need more help

flattyres · 02/01/2021 09:21

retinol (I use a313 from Amazon and after 6 months see real results), hyaloronic acid for hydration and proper stand alone sun block every day. Not a moisturiser with some SPF mixed in.

and a good clean in the evening. I don't think you need anything else.

PusheenLove · 02/01/2021 13:01

@Fluffycloudland77 Retinol every day? I thought it was too potent for that?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/01/2021 13:50

Not once your used o it. You can apply tret everyday.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 02/01/2021 20:37

Where do people source their retinol if you haven’t seen a dermatologist? I’ve been curious about A313.

Flambola · 03/01/2021 02:49

What is your skin like and what do you want to achieve with the routine? I mean tret is the gold-standard but it’s not for everyone, and it’s important not to rush into it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2021 08:06

Retinols not prescription.

Dermatica.
Nearlytherenext · 03/01/2021 08:28

As above
Retinol
SPF
Hyaluronic acid
Moisturiser
AHA wash to remove dead skin, or other exfoliator

Cheaper brands just aren't as effective. So I can't recommend any

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 03/01/2021 20:56

Yes I should have written tretinoin.
Currently using a skin and me prescription product with clindamycin, Tret and Azelaic acid. It’s working well so far (I switched from dermatica as the niacinamide/clindamycin/adapalene was not getting to work well /fast enough). Would imagine I could just get tret through skin+me once the need for the clindamycin has gone but just wanted to know if there were alternatives that didn’t require a £20/month subscription. Having said that, perhaps this is the reliable/safe way to do it rather than buying something else online and it still costs a fortune.

Mindfullness · 03/01/2021 21:32

Interesting, I will look into Tretinion! Thank you :)

I’m just starting with retinol for the first time. If I add hyralonic acid to my routine as well, where does it fit in? So far I have a balm cleanse + moisturise + SPF in the AM and balm cleanse + retinol in the PM...

Sorry for hijack OP!

Blueskysunsout · 03/01/2021 23:28

I was using the retinol i. Aquiline from The ordinary for ages and it’s been out of stock for months. I’ve stopped using it but need a reliable replacement.
Ps dukeofearlgrey - retinol is to be used in your nighttime regime.

The best skincare products for individuals over 40 can vary depending on individual skin concerns, preferences, and skin types.

OnlyCorrect · 27/11/2023 09:45

alwaysstressed · 02/01/2021 09:00

Tretinion and sunscreen are the only things that work.

I'd add a (good, stable) vitamin C product too. Skinceuticals CE Ferulic is the gold standard but there are cheaper options now since their patent expired.

Gingerbreadhorse · 27/11/2023 10:55

What facial spf do people recommend?

Pinkyzstar · 27/11/2023 14:22

Any SPF 50+ is good, I use it along with tret from skinorac and it goes well
