Socks. Warm, comfortable socks

My feet are usually freezing in winter and I've tried all sorts and still struggle to find perfect socks.

I need:
Cosy and warm
Not too bulky or loose. I have hand knitted woollen socks that slide off my feet.
Not itchy
Not anything that makes my feet feel clammy but still cold!

I don't mind splashing out but they would have to come with a recommendation.

Another vote for BAM socks - game changing. My 9 year old son also won't wear anything else!

I have Uniqlo socks - controv but I prefer my Patagonia socks. They feel as warm as hiking socks but aren't as bulky. They are also nice and long!

I know you asked for socks but Glerups slippers are The Actual Best and keep my feet sooooo toasty. Also my husband's feet, my friends' feet, my family's feet.... and have done for years.

Thank you all. Who would have thought socks could generate such interest?
The Glerups slippers are right up my street, bit £££ but I bet they are so warm. And socks that feel like dog's ears sound perfect too.
I'm going to do some research with all this info and treat myself to a few different pairs.

I'm a sock snob too hoping for recommendations! The heat tech / cashmere / merino ones are too fine for me - I'm after something solid and more like a leg warmer style, any thoughts??

I get the chunky knee high Heattech ones but look all sold out atm. I don't like fine socks either.

Hiking socks. Any brand really will do but the more expensive ones definitely are better. They are made to be foot shaped and stay put really well and they come in warm versions for winter hikes.

I have heat tech socks and they are good too, but much thinner so depends what you're after.i also don't find them quite as warm as my merino hiking socks.

The secret for me is two pairs, one thin wool, one thicker trainer sock.

Smartwool socks. They're the best. Not cheap but they last forever and are amazingly comfortable and breathable. I gave some as gifts last Christmas and got repeat requests this year! They come in thin or more padded/hiking/skiing styles - all excellent!

I agree with @inquietant - I love having a normal pair of trainer socks followed by thicker socks. Like a coat for my feet ahahaha!

Have you tried teddy socks before? I buy mine from SOCKSHOP and they're soooo comfy! I hate when socks get thin on the bottom and these don't!

I second Bam's bamboo socks! Have the trainer type and the taller ones, both so warm and comfy.

Iomi heat-holder socks, Raynaud's rating. The only ones that work for me. I'm currently sitting here wearing them over a pair of possum fur socks, a pair of standard cotton socks and a pair of m&s thermals and my feet are OK. Apparently it's 13 degrees!
