Does anyone on here use these products? And do you rate them?
On the recommendation of a friend I bought the glam glow oil & have used it a bit over the past 2 weeks. I think it's good and am now considering investing in some other products but don't really know where to start.

I'm currently using the ordinary cleanser & moisturiser & they're ok not brilliant

I have v problematic skin - I'm v late 40s & still get hormonal breakouts every month. My skin is oily but also dehydrated & dry. Some areas are flaky at times (chin each side down from my mouth)

I have spent a FORTUNE on skincare over the decades & have used everything over the years including clinique, dermalogicaia, le roche posay etc etc all with no discernable improvement.
I long for lovely clear skin & feel hitting 50 I deserve it now.
Please help!

I have the Sunday Riley Luna oil which is pretty good and also the Good Genes serum which is very effective but a little too harsh for me to use every day.

If you are looking for big improvements I would look at Skinceuticals, their Phyto -Correct serum is my holy grail product and has made a huge difference to my skin. It's reduced the redness, the visibility of my pores and improved my skin tone.

I also rate Dr Dennis Gross highly, his eye serum is incredibly effective on my previously dark circled and puffy under eye area.

@Checkerboard thank you so much for that advice. I will definitely look into skinceuticals as I have never come across them before

I've just starting using Sunday Riley Luna which came in an Advent Calender this year and I'm not wowed by it. It's given me a few spots, and despite using only 5 drops it didnt sink in as well as I'd hoped. There was no wow factor the next morning which I get with plenty of other products I use.

I use Sunday Riley and really like it.

I use Good Genes and Luna which I really like plus Juno oil as well

Autocorrect eye cream is good for brightening but doesn’t do anything for lines and it’s bloody expensive so to be fair I’m not going to buy it again.

Pink drink spray is just ok and whilst I’ll use it up, I probably won’t get another. But Good genes, Luna and Juno Definitely

If you're at a loss and dont know where to start try the Boots Perfect and Protect Intense Advanced range and their Advanced Retinol complex.

I use many different tried and tested products from over the years for my particular sensitive and combination skin but if I do recommend that range.

Also my skin is different from week to week and day by day so I have a variety of products to deal with these changes which would be to long and complex to list and explain. I am the same age as you.

A lot of beauty experts over the years have stated that Sunday Riley is very overpriced what it is and does. But they pay CH to promote them and she is great at getting her followers to listen to her advice on products. Her advice has changed a lot over the years now she is better paid for it as it were.

If you can afford Sunday Riley then you’ve obviously got some cash to throw at the issue - I would therefore really recommend going to see a dermatologist and then buying the products they recommend for you (which are often much cheaper than anything you would buy but work better).

I had awful cystic acne after coming off the pill in my 30s which got sorted straight away after doing what the dermatologist said. You’ll likely save yourself money in the long run and get better results.

As for Sunday Riley, I agree with a PP that it is overpriced but love the Good Genes serum. Really good stuff. I would avoid Luna as retinol needs to be in an airtight bottle to keep it effective.

Your skin sounds like mine. It's rather soul-destroying isn't it?

I swear by the facial wash and moisturiser from Haeckels. They have improved by skin more than any other skincare range (and I've tried many!). Sadly the moisturiser is currently out of stock so not showing on the website. It will be back soon apparently.

I like Sunday Riley Good Genes although I heard they changed the formula and it's not as good as it used to be.

Have you ever looked at the long running skin threads on here, OP?

I'd start with those before spending any more money on products. Or maybe an online consultation with Dermatica. Nothing will really fix your skin until you figure out what it needs and what products are doing to it.

A basic routine will be

Morning - cleanse with very gentle cleanser or just rinse with tepid water
Optional hydrating toner or serum
Optional Vitamin C (Skinceuticals or a great dupe, timeless)
Moisturiser if necessary
Broad spectrum SPF at least 30
Makeup if wearing

Evening
Oil based cleanser/makeup and SPF remover
Gentle water based skin cleanser

Optional hydrating toner/serum
Optional retinol serum/tretinoin
or
acid exfoliator 2 to 3 times per week

Optional facial oil
Moisturiser

CeraVe, Avene and La Roche Posay are good for basics. Paula's Choice is good for acid exfoliators (skin perfecting liquid is often recommended). La Roche Posay do a low strength retinol, and Avene does a retinoid type thing. Paula's choice do a few different retinols, haven't tried them. Medik8 do lots of different types.

Don't try a lot of new things at once. The best thing is to try and find what basic cleanser and moisturizer leave your skin clean without feeling dry before adding in more products.

I use Avene Extremely gentle cleanser and CeraVe PM facial moisturiser. Both are reasonably priced. The CeraVe moisturiser has niacinamide in it which is supposed to regulate oil production, tighten pores and have healing benefits. I just use the big bottle of CeraVe moisturising lotion in the morning.
