Can we have a thread about small acts of beauty related self care?

My hair appointment had to be cancelled because I caught COVID so my hair looks crap and we’re now in tier 4; My nails are crap (no change there though!); my brow appointment cancelled for the same reason and I feel disgusting after being ill. I feel like a dehydrated husk.

I just feel in need of a small beauty boost to make myself feel better!

Update on the Seche Vite, 24 hours and 3 minor chips and two major. Sigh. It looked so good when it went on, I wonder if my nails are just too oily for normal polish?

It's not the Seche Vite that's the problem.

Ensure your nails are clean and dry, no oil or moisturizer. Make sure you've used a cuticle remover and pushed them back. Make sure nails are short (mine are very bendy so j keep them shirt as them bending stresses the nail varnish).
Also with a light buff now and then.
Use a good base coat. You should try and seal the tip but I don't do this because I keep my nails short so I'd just be painting the top of my finger.

Also, what nail varnish are you using? Some are better than others.

Then, once it's on, minimise any contact with water, wear gloves to wash up etc. Don't use nails as tools, so don't scrabble at ring pulls with them. Wear gloves outside. Sellotape and cheese graters are the mortal enemies of nail varnish so don't use them.

Moisturise hands and cuticles daily.
