Beginners online make up tutorials

Could anyone recommend any please? I'm late 30s and wear minimal make up at the moment (bit of foundation and concealer, maybe a slick of mascara).

For various reasons I missed the teenage experiment with make up phase (bad skin, self conscious, money) and I've never felt confident make up wise ever as an adult either.

I don't want to have to buy too many different specialised products, but need help with the basics of eg eye make up for starters (I've no clue how to choose and apply it apart from a quick bit of mascara). I've never worn lipstick either...

I'd love to be able to feel confident I don't look like an 6 year old has done my make up Grin I have pretty good skin now and no lines yet.

Any suggestions?

Less is more, buy a tinted moisturiser or a foundation serum
Try the ordinary or <a class="break-all" href="https://www.clinique.co.uk/product/1687/70311/skin-care/www.clinique.co.uk/product/21051/82211/christmas/christmas-beauty-gifts/clinique-power-lashes-gift-set" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">moisturisers/dramatically-differenttm-moisturizing-bb-gel clinique tinted moisturiser

In terms of mascara, clinique power lash is really fab,it doesn’t flake,or run

Lisa Eldridge always does great tutorials

Cream blusher is always easy and won’t let you down

Same boat OP - am mid 40's and never learnt this skill. My mum never wore make up so l never watched anyone do it and am always fascinated by people that can transform their whole look with it.

Honestly you can apply in @5minutes and look groomed
Bobbi brown is a safe bet, neutral colours, and flattering
Ignore all that batshit blending, bronzing and conturing. It’s nasty and too gaudy

Wayne Goss on YouTube is good.
I think 'the makeup channel's is quite good also although I haven't checked it for a while.
Sadly, it's mostly product reviews now gahh!
I love and watch product reviews but I want tutorials and they are lacking Sad
I like Lisa Eldridge too

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 21/12/2020 23:32

Yes Wayne goss is achievable too

SeaglassSolstice · 21/12/2020 23:41

Thank you so much for the replies Smile I will have a look through the suggestions.

Fishfingersandwichplease yes same here. Combined with teenage skin and family/peers at school who trashed my confidence I never learnt. I finally feel I have the time and inclination to have a go Smile

Thanks everyone

Lisa Eldridge is fantastic
All the basic tutorials plus complete looks.

SpeckledyHen · 22/12/2020 05:52

Lisa Eldridge has tutorials on her website to cover every aspect you can imagine..

cherrypiepie · 22/12/2020 08:13

I second Lisa Eldridge

Also Bobbi brown did a '5 minute make up' routine that showed how she did her make up on the train

But they can be overwhelming with products.

I wear make up everyday and it takes me five mins max using 5 products.

I was the same as you and did it really start wearing makeup daily until late 20s - so I though you might find it helpful to see what I use. I go for a groomed look also consider getting brows waxed and tinted as that makes a huge difference.

I used to use premium in brands but some of the cheaper brands are great now.

Foundation applied with blender
Blusher
Eyeliner
mascara
Brow pencil.

Pixiwoo on YouTube too- lots of older videos showing basics

violetbunny · 23/12/2020 03:30

I second Bobbi brown for easy tutorials. This is a great how to video for a simple, natural polished look:

I also recommend the Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow sticks she uses in this video. They're very simple for a beginner, just swipe them on and blend with a finger. You don't need a brush and they stay in place once they set.
