In need for recommendations! I am going through tough times, and want to treat myself to an amazing shampoo and conditioner regardless of price. But which one? Never bought premium shampoo before.

It really depends on what type of hair you have, can you give a description please? People will be more able to make recommendations if they know they have the same type of hair as you. For instance, I have extremely dry and thin hair, anything that I recommend wouldn't suit greasy/normal/thick hair.

Liliuk · 21/12/2020 14:30

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar thank you! I didn't think of that! My hair is coloured long straight dry quite coarse but thinning a little on top.

I like Olaplex for coloured hair. I've used it for 6 months and my hair feels so much stronger. I also like Kerstase in the green bottles which I use in between Olaplex.

cerealkillah · 21/12/2020 14:33

I've always liked Kerastase. It really helped when I had very dry heat damaged hair.

This would be perfect for you. I have similar hair and this makes it look so beautiful, soft and shiny. And it smells gorgeous. Their hair oil is also the best.

If you do buy it, use the code LFWinter and get an extra 10% off.

Icenii · 21/12/2020 14:36

Topcash Back is good too if you buy through that.

willsantausesantatize · 21/12/2020 14:39

Percy and reed hydrating shampoo. A bottle out of John Lewis was 12 pounds.
I've tried them all over the years, cheap and cheerful and more expensive ones and this is the only one that has made my older woman hair look ok! I have some old highlights from the summer growing out , and it's worked wonders on them too.
I intend to try and make it last.

Luckyonetwo · 21/12/2020 14:46

Olaplex or Redkin.
I hear a lot of good reviews on kerastase but didn’t personally like it myself.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 21/12/2020 14:53

I've just bought two massive bottles of tigi bed head shampoo and conditioner from amazon and they were such good value, about £14 for both. I got the recovery moisture ones and it's made my dry/damaged hair feel so much nicer. My hair quite fine, although lots of it, but coarser underneath. It all fees much softer without being weighed down.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/12/2020 16:53

I use Aveda volumising shampoo, which doesn't have any SLS in it, a lot of shampoos irritate my scalp. I also use Phyto mask every second wash as a conditioner. Both products only need a small amount so last a long time, I buy the Aveda shampoo in the litre size and it lasts about a year.

For the wash that I don't use the Phyto as a conditioner, I vary what I use but am currently using Urtekram Wild Rose Conditioner which makes my hair very silky and soft but doesn't give quite enough body to my thin hair.

ChequerBoard · 21/12/2020 17:18

The best shampoo and conditioner I have found this year is the Drunk Elephant Cocomino Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner. Not quite why, but it really suits my hair and has a really noticeable impact on its end state after styling.

I also love the Davines shampoo and conditioners, sounds like the NouNou one would suit you or Minu of your hair is coloured.

Moomin37 · 21/12/2020 17:24

Another vote for Olaplex here, including the No. 3 treatment on a regular basis. Also use Kerastase for a change now and again.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 21/12/2020 21:29

Philip Kingsley or function of beauty which is entirely customisable to your hair type and what you want

Liliuk · 22/12/2020 11:31

Amazing, thank you everyone! I am going to look into it and order today ☺️

Shu uemera

I’ve tried everything and this brand is the very best. They all smell divine too.

Littleguggi · 22/12/2020 21:53

Taoist soap for thinning hair/ hair loss

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 22/12/2020 21:56

Wella Elements is my favourite.

On the less expensive side L'Oréal dream lengths hair mask is really good for when you fuck it up with too much straightening.

Recycledblonde · 22/12/2020 21:56

I love function of beauty, I have shiny, fair hair for the first time in years. It seems expensive but lasts for ages.

Liliuk · 23/12/2020 08:39

Hi, I have just ordered kerastase and olaplex. Will try them all at some point Thank you!

MOP mixed greens or c system for coloured hair.

SantasNoReal · 23/12/2020 18:08

I used Olaplex for a long time, I didn’t feel much difference. I have moved to Kerastase Therapiste and I’m blown away tbh.

Just discovered these recently and my hair has never felt better (hair type is long, dry and damaged)
LongPauseNoAnswer · 23/12/2020 18:22

Anything from L’Occitane range. I used to have to wash my hair every day but now I get 3 days out of it. they’re great for dry hair because they’re oil based but don’t cause greasiness.

nitgel · 23/12/2020 18:25

I like redken and they usually do a twin pack of shampoo and conditioner I used the pink colour magnetics range. With high end products if you like you want to rebuy and redken can be bought in 1000 ml bottles on ebay

CatNoBag · 05/01/2021 17:29

Oribe

I got a full sized bottle a few years ago in one of those Space NK beauty box things, and eked it out for ages. One fo the few things that have been a big hit in those random boxes/advent calendar type things. When it finished I decided to treat myself to another using birthday money from my Mum as it's so lovely! Felt quite guilty spending so much on shampoo, but every time I use it I can feel the difference and it smells lovely ALL DAY. Might splash out on conditioner as well this year, seeing as we haven't been anywhere for the past year and unlikely to be going anywhere soon either.
