In a bit of a quandary about patent leather shoes.

Operation Evening Shoe commenced yesterday.

2 hours later was feeling most despondent (esp. after musical cake slice encounter) when I came upon these rather lovely Kurt Geiger numbers.

They tick all the boxes (and give me an orgasm foot)....and yet they are patent.

I'm not sure if I like patent.

It is everywhere atm, but I need these shoes to last several years. Will patent be "OMG they're so 2007" in 2009.

opinions please.

Carmenere, we don't have a peacocks near us, but they do look nice.

I would like it to be known that in my whole entire life ever I have never spent more than £50 on a pair of shoes. 'Tis my christmas spends money and I want some shoes that are loverly.

New look shoes looked horrid on, all gapey at the sides. Operation evening shoe left no stone unturned (in Chester anyway).

Regarding the scuffing, I just remember getting these marks that were the same colour as the patent leather but just non-shiny (and sometimes a slightly lighter shade) but nomdebroonstick says they come off easily enough - she knows something I didn't!

I'm not a fan of cheap shoes....they just make my feet hurt. I've bought towering heeled shoes from KG, Hobbes, LK Bennett and because they seem to have leather soles, find them very wearable.

Gemy, my DH said (whilst we discussed the shoe mission/cost) "I'd rather you spent more on some shoes that are going to last"

I think he was trying to say 'we really can't afford for you to buy a new pair fancy evening shoes every year'

however I have turned that comment round in my head now (with womens logic) and my new and improved interpretation of the subtleties of the comment is 'darling, I really, really want you to go and buy a pair of expensive shoes. It's just the right thing to do, please do not scrimp on the purchase, I will be upset if you don't have a splurge'

that with my mantra 'you get what you pay for' means I may go back and try the KG's on again.

Still wavering on the patent though

LOL Slubberdegullion

I think you read the situation appropriately - your DH surely does not want you to script on something as important as foot comfort.

It would be negligant not to try on the said shoes once more, and they may be lonely, just waiting for you to return

As I've said before, the shoes are lovely, and if each time you wear them you bask in their lovelyness, then surely you should have them.

Infact, now I am thinking I have not basked in shoe lovelyness for too long....Mmmm KG...

Oh God - they are gorgeous - buy them now.

I have a very similar pair from French Connection (with 2 straps higher up rather than your one at the bottom) and they are gorgeous. I also have a pair of patent boots and love those too.

my FCUK patent shoes

My Dune ones were really hard to get hold of and it seems they don't have anymore - patent rocks!

Gobbledispook · 27/10/2007 23:32

Dune ones are my boots
