Recommendations for thickening shampoo or product?

My hair seems really fine compared to what it used to be before I had my two daughters. Does anyone have any recommendations to thicken your hair up?

If you want your hair to just appear thicker then dry shampoo is great for that.

Some people try biotin capsules or shampoo with biotin in it to make the hair itself grow thicker.

@FlyingByTheSeatof thanks I use dry shampoo a lot & it helps but I actually want it to grow thicker. I will take a look at the biotin capsules.

There are some threads on here that discuss other hair thickening options so try the search button to find them

Has anyone tried any of the shampoo’s to encourage hair to grow back thicker? If so, do they work? I was looking at the caffeine shampoos today.

I really want to get something for my hair asap but can’t decide what’s best to try.

I use Garnier Ultimate Blends Honey Strengthening Shampoo & conditioner and although it's not for actually thickening your hair, my hair does feel thicker & stronger. I definitely notice a difference if I don't use it.

Thickening shampoos don't really work. They tend to be heavy and weight it down. Mousse is what you need. A bit at the roots when wet then blow dry upside down. Use dry shampoo for day 2.

Alpecin - stops my hair from falling out as much and now feels thicker. Have been using is for years can't recommend it enough but it does take a while before you notice a difference and you have to leave it on for at least 2 mins.

I know someone who owns their own hair treatment facility.
He told me that it's not possible to increase the thickness of your hair. As in, you can't increase the diameter/circumference of the strands. When people suffer with thinning hair, it's not the thickness of the strands decreasing, it's an increase in overall hair loss (like when men start to recede - the strands don't get thinner, but the quantity of strands decreases). Hope that makes sense.

He also said thickening products work by coating the hair to give the illusion of thicker hair - in the way dry shampoo does.

So, I would say, focus on a shampoo that is aimed at preventing/improving hair loss and look for some good quality products that will coat your hair (without damaging it) to give the illusion of thicker hair.

I've tried a few but Mane & Tail really works for me. I also tried a few versions of that, but the original works best, my hair looks and feels loads better (even if it is just coated!) That, and conditioning BEFORE shampoo, or not conditioning at all, as I've realised it makes my hair so flat.
