Lands end children's wear sizes

Does anyone know how lands end's children's wear fits please?

I've got a very skinny 8 year old, I'm having an absolute nightmare finding clothes to fit that also meet his sensory needs. There's some soft looking lands end trousers in the Debenhams closing sale that I'm tempted by but I'm wary about them being too wide!

He's 126cm tall, 24in hips, 21.5in waist. Just for reference to show his build. Thank you for any help, I'd normally buy and risk returning but I'm too nervous to do that with Debenhams atm!

I get my autistic son landsend skinny jeans and t shirts he is I sturdy but slim 10 nearly 11yearold and is in age 11 trousers.
If you buy direct from landsend their customer service is great good guidance on size and fit and will replace things if they wear out before they are outgrown. I have jackets and t shirts my 16 year-old wore which are still in great condition and so soft

Lands End in the US do slim sizing, which is great, but tbh in this country I find waistbands cut quite wide for the girlswear. Have never bought boy's trousers.

Might be ok with an adjustable waist though, and the quality has always been excellent.

Thank you!

He won't wear skinny jeans for sensory reasons, so I need straight leg that fit slim. It's an absolute nightmare and I'm currently having to make his clothes because fit's so difficult and you obviously can't try on in store at the moment! He's roughly the same waist measurement as his 2 year old brother and has been known to put this brothers clothes on when he's trying to be funny, if not for being too short his brothers tops fit better than his do! If the trousers fit we'd likely gradually get others, but they're significantly cheaper in the Debenhams sale!

We find adjustable waists if not a bit slimmer fitting end up looking like he's wearing a nappy as he has pretty much no bum. They're a godsend on the slimmer fitting trousers but standard width just means a load of baggy fabric.

Lands end regularly have good sales regularly I got 2 shirts for my husband at 60% off this week. So worth signing up to their emails

The fit is quite generous.

They come up big, the joggers are too wide on the waist on my skinny 9yo when the length is right. But they are lovely and soft.

entrytohr · 14/12/2020 22:44

It was the soft that drew me to them. He won't wear skinny jeans for sensory reasons and doesn't like rough or hard fabrics. But wants something a bit smarter than joggers Confused

Does anyone have any suggestions of other places to look that run slim in that case please? So far we've tried:

  • asda
  • Tesco
  • Morrison's
  • sainsburys
  • next
  • M&S
  • H&M
  • primark
  • gap
  • assorted shops when we were on holiday in france that I can't remember the names of.

He has PICA so I don't tend to want to spend huge amounts, but £20-25 isn't the end of the world as he'd only need one or two pairs! Driving myself up the wall and don't think I can bring myself to attempt to sew my own jeans for him as well as the tops and hoodies!

Have you tried the girls section of H&M? They do plain jeggings in sweatshirt material that are soft and slim fitting but not tight on a skinny child. Dd has a lot of them!

By Jegging are they closely fitted on the legs? I'm just looking now and can only see that type, which he wouldn't go near unfortunately! Or do you mean they fit baggier on the legs as a bit wider fitting? Sorry - my brain's still in bed today I think!

We have the too tight on the legs issue too.

My Dc generally just lives in joggers or second hand trousers from when the fashion was for wider cut legs. I buy on eBay or in charity shops.

He's happy in joggers but likes to have a few pairs of "smart" ones too. He really doesn't need wider leg, he'd be fine with straight legged but they need to be slim fitting as he's so slight, in the waist though instead of becoming skinny jeans. Those of a normal width with a pull in waist leave him with a massively baggy bum! We managed school trousers in M&S by getting 4-5 with extra length as an example, but I can't seem to find this outside of school uniform. Next had slim fitting jeans, but they're only available in super skinny style so we've no chance he'd wear them!

Depends how skinny he is - they’re close but not tight fitting on my dd, but she’s quite slim of thigh and also she doesn’t have sensory issues.
