Beauty and nails after covid?

Will you go back to having the same level of beauty treatments and nails after the covid vaccine and risk is reduced?

I was thinking of doing training in beauty with nails or as a nail technician but wondered if this is foolhardy and most people will just do their own now?

I was thinking I might go mobile, but is it a poor investment of time and money to train?

Apart from when my salon has been forced to close, I’ve carried on having nail and brow treatments as normal, and my nail tech’s diary is bursting.

I wouldn’t let Covid put you off, hopefully by the time you’re qualified it’ll be more or less over.

I just really want to do something joyful and creative. One of the things that has got me through lockdown is watching nail tutorials on Instagram. So calming for me! I haven't been getting mine done so not been going be example! Not been able to get childcare. Wondered if the world had changed or not. I'm hoping it will change back a bit. I'm enjoying more sustainable ethical fashion but I love a bit of glamour too!

I have only recently taken to having my nails and toes done , nothing fancy I don’t have those big jazzy talons, but I absolutely love it. I’d always taken care of my skin and hair and spend a lot on clothes but I had horrible bitten nails. My nail lady opened during the pandemic and is rammed busy all the time . I think a lot of women see it as a not too expensive way to treat themselves .

I say go for it, good luck !

I don't get my nails done, but I know plenty of women who do and they have all continued to get their nails done as far as they could this year.

I think you need to do more research to help you decide. Eg, equipment, insurances, business expenses, local market.

I don't want to put you off, as I think if it's something you really want to do, you should go for it, but if it's a serious business as opposed to a hobby job, you really need to do thorough research.

I did do all the research the year before covid just wasn't sure how much the market had changed. I don't get close enough to people to see their nails, eyelashes or eyebrows really these days!

I've carried on whenever possible and will continue to do so. Mobile services would be very handy now and in the future with more wfh, as long as you'll be reliable.

bananaboats · 14/12/2020 17:38

Agree with the others I've carried on getting appointments as best as I can throughout and I know my hairdresser and nail salon have both been mega busy when they've been allowed to open so don't think many people are put off.

wizzbangfizz · 14/12/2020 17:39

I've been back as soon as I've been able for all my usual treatments and unless forced to stop will continue to do so.

JaceLancs · 14/12/2020 21:55

I’m another one who has been straight back as soon as my nail salon re opened

seensome · 16/12/2020 00:01

I'll happily pay someone to do my nails, eyelashes, pedicure, I hated having to them myself, it's such a chore and time consuming, went straight back to the salon after first lockdown the only reason I'm waiting until January is because I'm busy at work before Christmas.
