Light face coverage recommendations please?

I hate the feeling of products sat on my face. My skin is combination, greasy T zone with redness and prominent pores.

I've been using The Ordinary Serum Foundation, which is ok for such a good price, but it still annoys me after an hour or two.

NARS tinted moisturiser is amazing, i too have slightly oily skin and don’t like to feel products on my face but this is so light you won’t feel it, but your skin will look far better

TornadoOfSouls · 12/12/2020 08:56

If you’re happy with very light coverage, L’Oréal C’est Magic BB cream might work for you. It has a very small range of shades, though. It goes on white and you sort of work it into your skin and it creates a very subtle evening out effect, and feels like there’s nothing on your skin. Possibly worth trying with another, heavier foundation or just a concealer on top for ‘problem’ areas.

I use the c'est magique bb cream too. V light coverage. I use it over Rimmel mattifying primer, otherwise it sits in my pores and lines.

The other one I use is maybelline's dream matte mousse foundation, which isn't foundationey at all. I've been using the same rimmel primer under that and am actually looking for less of a matte primer as I find the two together almost too drying.

floofycroissant · 12/12/2020 09:03

Yes @TornadoOfSouls I will pair with an industrial strength eye bag concealer Grin I'm looking at the Maybelline Age Rewind.

Ps I should add - I'm 44 and have only just started wearing any sort of face makeup. Between the ages of 15 and 43 I only used powder as I hated the feeling of foundation, but the ones I mentioned above feel fine to me. The bb cream was even fine during the summer.

OllysArmy · 12/12/2020 09:11

When I was 30ish I discovered BareMinerals powder foundation and for the first time found something I could wear on a daily basis. I hated all liquid foundations (had tried all brands cheap to mega expensive) and still do, although I can now use their light stick foundation too.

sausagepastapot · 12/12/2020 09:16

I am a brand freak. But Aldi Lacura BB cream is bloody amazing.

Or NARS as PP said.

floofycroissant · 12/12/2020 09:22

I tried BareMinerals ages ago @OllysArmy and I looked a bit dusty, it also irritated me. I have friends who hate it because they can't feel it, I'm obv v.fussy Blush

Another vote for NARS tinted moisturiser. Lasts for ages.

midnightstar66 · 12/12/2020 09:27

I have a cc cream which is a bit better coverage than the bb. See if your preferred brand also does this.

Laurie01 · 12/12/2020 09:44

Clinique City Block spf it's a tinted moisturiser, provides light coverage and you don't feel it on your skin

floofycroissant · 12/12/2020 09:52

Don't know why but I always assumed Nars was heavy. I am slightly loathe to spend £30 before trying it.

I ended up chucking a whole tube of Laura Mercier times moisturiser a few years ago.

Haven't touched Clinique in years, since I got sucked into buying their cleansing regime for £££ and my skin started peeling off around my mouth and eyes. Not sure if I want to risk it again

I hardly ever wear make up and am similar vintage. I’ve just bought Chanel velvet teint sthing or other and it is quite literally magical - make up technology has clearly come on in leaps since I last bought foundation. Can’t recommend it enough. Very light texture but decent coverage. Goes on far more easily than vita lumiere (the last one I had) and needs far less blending

floofycroissant · 12/12/2020 13:16

I popped into Boots on a whim, got slightly overwhelmed and ended up with City Light tinted moisturiser and Hydralouminous Dark Eye concealer. Blush worst case they'll let me exchange for the L'Oréal Cest... for free.

I couldn't find a mini or tester for Nars so I can't justify the splurge without knowing it's right, but it's on my list. Thanks

I think you will like the Boots City Light, it’s my second favourite (after NARS). And do let me know what you think to the Dark Eye concealer?

Frankiefrank · 12/12/2020 19:12

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is lovely if you’re ok to spend over £30 on a foundation.

BoysRule · 12/12/2020 19:13

I use Clinique cc cream which I love. Very light coverage but manages to give an even tone.

laudemio · 12/12/2020 19:20

Estee lauder cc cream, pricey but a little goes a long way, it is fantastic stuff.

floofycroissant · 12/12/2020 19:26

Ooh that's good to hear @ThursdayAlready2. I initially thought the City Light didn't do anything, but then I took it off and def noticed a difference Grin

I'm not sure if I've bought the best colour for concealer, also my first time with a sponge tip so I think I need to give it a few go's before making a proper judgment. It's def not as heavy/high coverage as I imagined, but that suits me.

All in all fairly promising though.

I watched this earlier - she has some good recommendations that I might try out.

shehadsomuchpotential · 12/12/2020 21:07

Another vote for the L'oreal one here. My best friend swears by it too. Really light and matt.

julietmanchester · 13/12/2020 01:16

I use a japanese brand 'Koh Gen do' and have been for 6 years.

Their aqua foundation is my fav for light but Dewy look. Tried Armani, Chanel, etc, brut nothing beats Koh Gen Do.
