Colour coming off new jeans...

Recently bought a couple of pairs of dark jeans in the sale at House of Fraser (Biba brand)

I've noticed that the colour rubs off all over my hands- they are both dark shades

Not yet worn them, mainly as nowhere to go with the lockdown!

I was wondering whether to put them through the wash (separate from other washing!) and see whether the colour shedding resolves.

Or I've got a half a mind to just take them back. I had a pair of these several years ago and they never had this issue.

Just concerned that when I start wearing them with light coloured tops, the colour will rub off...

Had anyone had similar jeans from Biba (skinny jeans) and found the same issue?

Every pair of jeans ivd ever bought came with a warning on the label that this can happen initially.

Totally normal and most dark jeans come with a tag that warns about this as PP says above. Just give them a wash and they should be fine.

Agree with the above. Also don’t sit on any light colour furniture with them on!

Ok yes I know it's a thing, but this seems excessive!

We've got a light coloured sofa so I'd better take care Grin

There was a thread on here recently and this was mentioned. I think you have to wash them in cold water with salt and they won't bleed the colour out after that

I once gave myself a fright finding my hands blue before I twigged it was my new jeans Grin

I've had blue legs after a night out in new jeans, it's definitely a thing, and definitely don't sit in any light furniture!

This is called ‘crocking’ it happens with some natural dyes, particularly indigo. It’s just trying to escape from the fibre.

If you washed them enough they would eventually become white. But it should stop after the first couple of washes
