I am going to new york for 6 days on wednesday and need to be comfy and stylish. What shall I take?Want a fairly basic but stylish look as I plan to shop so want room in my case!Going with dp and ds so mostly sightseeing and outdoors. No glitzy nights out although there is a nice cocktail bar in the hotel which overlooks the hudson river! So excited but have been ill for 2 weeks so not looking my best tbh I might do a quick fake tan tonight!

one pair footwear
one smartish warm jacket or coat
two or three smartish trousers
scarf/wrap thing
six or seven tops in various levels of formality and sleeve lengths to allow for aircon, heating etc
cardi or jumper and/or vests for underneath in case it's arctic.
big (but nice) bag for days out
small bag for evenings/dinner
jewellery (I favour big funky pendants for dressing up basic ensembles)

If you are canny (and rememer you will be travelling in the shoes, coat, one pair of the trous etc) this will fit in a hand-luggage size bag leaving the case for shopping.

(I deliberately haven't mentioned skirts as they often demand a second pair of shoes which can take a sizeable chunk out of the suitcase space, but if your favoured shoes are skirt-compatible it'd give a very different look for minimal space)

That sounds about right!I am wearing skinny jeans boots leather jacket and lovely scarf, will peel off on the flight!Black trousers and a few nice tops. Will wear uggs during the day and nice black heels at night. If I get the tan the right shade I can avoid loads of make up and stuff.

Hmm personally I don't think a leather jacket would be warm enough for NY at this time of year (unless it's fur-lined) but you could check out what the weather is currently like before you go.

Definitely take comfy shoes/boots for daytime. I would also take gloves and scarf and a hat if you normally wear one in winter. Shops etc will be warm but it can be freezing outside. I wouldn't bring too many outfits - another excuse to go shopping while you are there!

Take clothes you can layer if weather demands, and agree with comfortable shoes as you'll walk alot. Take gloves and scarves as it can be windy - especially if you're near the river. Wardrobe should be similar to what you'd take for 6 days in London.

New Yorkers wear lots and lots of black. Take black clothes, and you'll blend right in!

Have lots of black. The weather there seems to be farly warm atm but that could change so I will take hat and gloves.Ds wants to take nothing and just buy new as he has had very few clothes this year so may need another suitcase.
