Grippy walking boots/shoes

I'm very clumsy, the sort of person who falls over fresh air! Looking for some walking boots or shoes with good grip, especially in wet weather. Currently have a pair of north face walking boots but they are useless on wet slippery surfaces. I've hurt myself badly from slipping and falling before and get so anxious now, which is a shame as I love getting out into the countryside for a walk.

Not fussed about price, I'm thinking how much it will save me on osteopath appointments from not falling over!!

Thanks Smile

Watching for recommendations of walking shoes , the boots I have feel heavy

I got some doc marten faux fur lined Chelsea boots in the black Friday sale, I think they were £105 instead of £145 and they’re amazing.

They’re really cosy and have a big thick grip to them, I think they’re the only shoes I’ll trust when it gets icy. I did go half a size up though (I think they only do half sizes in the Chelsea boots) and I’d recommend going half a size up as I think they’d have been a bit too tight at my normal size.

I wear cotton traders walking boots. My husband wears their waterproof shoes.

Solomon xl lites. Like wearing trainers but supportive as boots.

I really like those DMs but my last pair split in the soles (don't seem to make them like they used to). Like the look of the Salomans too, I guess they must be grippy if fell runners wear them

Another fan of Salomons here. Their grip is very good.
If you were looking for general shoes or boots with a good grip I'd recommend fitflops. Their non-slip sole is excellent.

Lots of walking boots will struggle on wet rock/metal grates/smooth wet surfaces as it requires a different, less hard wearing, rubber compound. Walking boots made of it will degrade quickly on surfaces like tarmac so most companies don't bother as they don't want a reputation for boots that don't last.

I'm making some assumptions here about how you slipped and fell so I may be wrong.

So you have two options - 1. be realistic about the conditions underfoot that your boots will deal with but still have dry feet or 2. buy some trail running shoes with aggressive lugs made of a softer rubber but run the gauntlet of soggy toes.
