Bra question

I’ve just done BOB and it says 30G. I’m currently wearing 34DD which are desperately tight and pinchy by the afternoon. It doesn’t make sense to buy a 30??? Until about 5 years ago all my bras were 36A Shock

Try it! The cups will be much roomier and you need to scoop breast tissue into them.
I went from a 36a to 32d.

My bras look so much better.

I did this and now wear 30H. I think I was 34F before. I think BOB said 30HH but I found H was better.

I find the new bras a much more comfortable fit and there's less pressure from the straps on my shoulders. I don't think they look much different, so don't expect miracles, just better comfort and fit. If you order from Brastop they do free returns. I ordered about 8 to try in different styles and in neighbouring sizes. I ended up sending 7 back, but have ordered more now I've found a size and style that suits me.

Because the band is far too loose, your lower breast tissue drops into the gap. That is what is being pinched. It will leave red marks as well.

This won't happen when you have a band that actually sits snugly below your breasts. All your breast tissue will be contained above the band. This is why suddenly when you wear the correct bra size, your cup size apparently goes up so much. You will need a few days to get used to what feels unusually tight, but you will be so much more comfortable. No pinching, no rubbing, no moving, and no more wishing to tear your bra off the minute you can. Your breasts will be in the right place on your chest, your clothes will look 100% better, and even your arms will move around better.

If 5 years ago you were a size 16-18 and were shaped like a slightly chubby boy, then you may indeed have been a 36A. More likely you were wearing the wrong size bra (and/or you were 'fitted' by the lunatics in Marks & Spencers).

As well as the reasons Haffiana gives, the underwire will fit your body much better. In my old size the armpit ends of the wires used to rub on my skin, but that doesn't happen now.

absolutely agree with Haffiana plus never get fitted by M & S, I was wearing the wrong bra size for so many years....i looked awful at work and on so many occasions just because my bra size was wrong

Also, 34DD is the same cup size as 32E or 30F. That's 2 cup sizes smaller than 30G. Not surprising it feels tight, even if the back size is bigger - the bra itself is still too small.

PaxMalmKallax · 05/12/2020 21:02

Thanks all! I’ve ordered a few bras to arrive tomorrow so I’ll see what fits. I went from 36A - indeed M&S!! - straight up to 34DD after reading posts here on S&B. Recently I’ve been feeling so uncomfortable, and all my bras are disintegrating! I absolutely loathe bra shopping so when I find a good fit/style I buy 3 or 4 and make them last as long as I can!!

Who the hell is Bob?

PaxMalmKallax · 05/12/2020 21:27

@user1274245 it’s a website called Boob or Bust

If you do get measured by M&S you need to go down 2 hand sizes and up 2 on cups. They still use the old method share an A then is a C now
