CT website - please stop me from being sucked in - I want ALL the things but it’s just smoke and mirrors right?

You’ve got to hand it to her - she’s the queen of marketing. Her website is so slick with outrageous claims but it’s turned me into a magpie and I want everything. Talk me down please. I know that I can get dupes that are just as good from Revolution and NYX but as it’s Xmas, a little voice is saying, go in, you deserve it. Someone please tell me it’s not worth it - or tell me your gems so you can turn my head Grin

No experience but why not treat yourself to one thing and see how it compares to the dupes. One product never suits everyone so you need to try for yourself.

I’m not sure who CT is but I’m guessing it’s the woman who seems to get lots of people annoyed on beauty threads on here as she recommends expensive products.

My way of talking myself out of this kind of stuff is recognising they’re not magic potions. Unless I want something extremely specific I find most of it does the same stuff as other less expensive brands. I have yet to be blown away by anything.

Oh sorry, Charlotte Tilbury.

I have hovered over the buy button of the magic cream so many times in the last couple of weeks but just can’t bring myself to spend that much. Also, if it does do all the things she claims it’s an expensive habit to keep up!

Southernc0mfortmirror · 05/12/2020 08:09

Don’t do it - they use Hermes to deliver! I’ve just been refunded for £140 worth of CT makeup that Hermes ‘lost’
I do like the products but will never order online from them again

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 05/12/2020 08:09

I really don’t like her marketing and packaging, ditto for the concessions in department stores (remember those? :D) Give yourself 48hrs cooling off and then consider whether you still want it.

For competition, my next purchase will be the Stila One Step primer. Have a mooch around Cult Beauty or Space NK websites for competition.

CT has some nice products but the marketing is all hype. The sales assistant told me the eye-cream was great value- marvelling at the size of it compared to other brands! It's 15ml like most standard size eye creams but just in a huge glitzy pot!

ChequerBoard · 05/12/2020 11:06

Not keen on CT products at all. I've bought a few things and all of them have been. Case of style/glitzy packaging over substance. Extremely overpriced for the quality level in my opinion.

e..e pillow talk lip liner - consistency a bit too dry and dragging across lip as it is used and then the lead fell out of the pencil the first time I sharpened it!

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/12/2020 11:17

@Turnedouttoes I received the Magic Cream last year as part of a box that my DP got me. It had lots of samples of high end products. I liked it enough to look up getting a full sized pot but there was no way in hell I was paying that kind of money.

It basically had a balm kind of consistency. I’m convinced it did nothing magic and if you could find a mid ranged product will a similar feel you would be equally as happy.

FizzyPink · 05/12/2020 12:19

That’s interesting @justanotherneighinparadise it sounds exactly like the M&S ultimate sleep cream that I use now and is only £23 so I think I’ll stick to it!

dontgobaconmyheart · 05/12/2020 15:14

Maybe buy something small and get it out your system OP? I don't think it's anything special tbh. The magic cream was awful I thought, so greasy.

It's subjective I'm sure but I find the marketing (and her) a bit cringey and cynical. Paying twice as much because of words like 'magic' 'flawless' 'elixir' 'instant miracle' on a gold bottle doesn't tempt me, the packaging looks nice but hardly screams legitimate luxury (to me at least). I think you'd be safe to assume if there were any instant miracles or creams that actually were magic, or indeed anything that made us look like 'goddesses' with one swipe- they'd be costing a lot more even than CT is charging! Good for her though as she's made a fortune.

I do love the flawless filter...
