Bar soap

iwasacceptableinthe80s · 04/12/2020 23:53

I have always used bar soap, with liquid soap in the kitchen.
One of my teenagers is now kicking off saying that it is unhygienic and doesn't kill germs. Nothing I can say will convince her otherwise. I've emphasised the environmental advantage, but does anyone have a good argument I can use for bar soap? She has threatened to throw any bars of soap out!

Bar soap kills coronavirus as well as other viruses with a lipid outer layer

Get your teenager to convince you with some real science. They won't.

Use detol bar soap....that kills germs

CharityEscapeGoat · 05/12/2020 01:36

You pay for the soap. When they pay for the soap, they can choose the soap.

Tons of studies done to prove the effectiveness of bar soap over liquid.

Just type into google is bar soap better than liquid soap

Loads come up

Yogatomorrow · 05/12/2020 02:10

I would suggest that your teen buys the new liquid soap and is responsible for re-filling or replacing it.

The righteous indignation will probably die off when money and effort are needed.

I don't think it's the actual soap that is unhygienic. I think it's that bar soap can develop cracks where bacteria can breed. Also that different people handle the soap
Certainly in a work sense we never use bar soap.
