Where to buy the original items advertised by companies like New Chic and Damensein?

More often than not I'll trawl the shops and not see a single item I like, but then I stumble upon New Chic, and Damensein et al. and see loads that I do. Unfortunately those sites have awful reviews and it seems the items advertised are not what they send, that the photos have probably been taken from other places. But when I do a reverse image search for the things I like I can't find them anywhere other than other similar dodgy Chinese scamming sites. Do the items in the photos really exist? And, if so, does anyone know where I can buy the following for example:
This jumper (and the belt), this jumper, and T-shirts like these? TIA.

No idea, but hoping someone can point us in the right direction as that Boho hippy style is gorgeous

Ive often wondered this myself. Have ordered a couple of things from Damensein, never again! But really like the items. Would love to know where the images originate.

Good question! Watching with interest.

Often they are old photos from previous seasons, small makers such as etsy or from other countries so might not come up on google.co.uk. They are photoshopped with different designs and colours.

Sweaters are often ripped off from Ravelry patterns so were never availalbe ready made in the first place - I often see familiar designs - here's one of yours.

Brilliant bit of detective work, thank you! 😃😎 I'll have a good look at Etsy and Ravelry now (and become a better knitter so I can make that jumper!) 🙂

It's an awesome pattern I've fave'd it too!

CandidaAlbicans2 · 03/12/2020 18:54

@NotMeNoNo, how on earth did you find it? I'm on a mission now to find the other jumpers and T-shirts that I like from those dodgy sites.

I think I just got lucky on image search. It's awful for designers, I have a couple of designs on ravelry and they have already started being re sold.

Thanks for starting this thread! Every time one of those ads pop up on MN, I think of posting the very same question.

I always wonder why those scammy companies don't actually make better quality products at a higher price rather than cheap knock offs that look nothing like the photo. There is clearly a market for the clothes there. It might decrease their profit margins per item but they would get repeat business from satisfied customers rather than one off purchases and returns.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 03/12/2020 19:39

@NotMeNoNo, that's dreadful 😠 It's happened to a friend of mine too 🙄

I buy quite a bit from newchic and wouldn't put it in the same category as that other one (which I can't be bothered to try and spell!). I've had lots of shoes, recently got some gorgeous dungarees and a bag. Not keen on the bag but the quality is good.
