Anyone had filler for deep wrinkles or dynamic lines?

And if so how much of a difference did it make? I'm getting really deep lines at the corners of my mouth (possibly the start of nose to mouth lines although one looks like it might dart off in another direction entirely) and they're really bothering me. Just wondering what sort of a difference filler would make or if there are any alternatives? Is it true that ultherapy can't be used too near the mouth or have I got that wrong? It did wonders on what looked to be a really deep smile line that was developing in the middle of my cheek.

Yes. A bit in my cheeks to lift and a little to soften the lines. Like magic!

Goingdooolally · 03/12/2020 03:43

Ps do you use retinol?

bigmassivecoconut · 03/12/2020 04:37

Yes I do use retinol Goingdooolally (love the username - sums up my experience of livfe at the moment!) and hope it's doing something although it's hard to tell to be honest. You don't get the big instant (or close to instant) results that you do from some things (ultherapy has impressed me most so far). Where were the lines or wrinkles you managed to soften? Sounds like a fantastic result!

Hi, yes very apt name thanks! Grin

I got rid of nose to mouth lines pretty much completely. I still have faint ones. I had filler all over my face! Haha. Like a 10 point face lift. Lots of dots here and there to scaffold and lift. Really natural. All lower face as that’s where I’m seeing the sag. My upper face is fine and I don’t mind crows feet and forehead lines. It’s the sag I hate. I’m late 40s.

Goingdooolally · 03/12/2020 05:21

But retinol (proper stuff) and dermapen have really improved the look of my skin. The doctor I see swears by retinol and sunscreen.. she says that plus a dermapen treatment and a bit of filler is the business!

Oblomov20 · 03/12/2020 08:00

Really interesting. How dye you find your Doctor?

Goingdooolally · 03/12/2020 08:35

It’s just an aesthetic place in my city. Through recommendation. I’ve been going to her for 10 years. A tweak here, there. Grin

Goingdooolally · 03/12/2020 08:37

Ps my face still has a slight sag around my mouth. It’s not perfect . But I’d rather than then look “done”. I’m 48 and happy to look 5 years younger/good for my age rather than 20 years younger!

bigmassivecoconut · 03/12/2020 13:53

Interesting about the dermapen. Is that something you buy and use at home or does it have to be done by a professional? I had a non-surgical lip lift to stop my mouth sagging (it's not age with me, it sags in photos of me as a toddler where I'm not smiling!) and I really like the results. I look far friendlier now. At least I think so, anyway! I'm fairly liberal with the sunscreen already despite rarely leaving the house!

@Goingdooolally
Do you mind me asking which area you are in. If I do go down filler route (I'm heading that way) I want it to look natural like yours.

bigmassivecoconut · 03/12/2020 15:35

Where are you JMAngel? I'm in central Scotland and have had all sorts done all over the place and could now recommend somewhere that's always been very good, on the offchance you're anywhere nearby (I know it's unlikely!).

JMAngel1 · 03/12/2020 16:42

Aww thanks @bigmassivecoconut but I'm Northwest.
I'm 48 too and know I need some filler as my face is definitely becoming sunken - it's a choice between my face or my tummy as I know I look better with an extra 5 pounds but then i hate my tummy!!

Othering · 03/12/2020 17:46

I'm northwest too. Tell me your secret......dm if you'd prefer! I've been to a few docs and have a view on most of them!
JMAngel1 · 03/12/2020 19:54

Sorry @Othering. I don't have one in mind yet. Just toying with the idea of fillers. Do you have one in NW you would recommend? One who does a 10 point subtle appliveation rather than concentrated in one area?

Goingdooolally · 03/12/2020 21:12

@JMAngel1 I’m also in Scotland but do let me know if you fancy a trip North and I’ll DM you the details!

bigmassivecoconut · 04/12/2020 00:18

I take it not central Scotland, Goingdooolally?

exhaustedmonkey · 04/12/2020 00:27

Following. I'm also a haggard looking late 30s mama located in central Scotland!! Please send me recommendations too!!@Goingdooolally and OP what retinol and sunscreen do you recommend? I find sunscreen too greasy. Cheers!

Elmo311 · 04/12/2020 00:33

Oooh, definitely keen to hear about retinol recommendations! I use this sunscreen (which was recommended on here) I'm very fair so I think it's good. It's also well absorbed and doesn't make me shiny!

Anyone had filler for deep wrinkles or dynamic lines?
bigmassivecoconut · 04/12/2020 00:50

I get the Retirides online now exhaustedmonkey (another great name!). I use 2 sunscreans - La Roche Posay Anthelios which is really matt, then normal Ambre Solaire sunscreen (the stuff you put on your body) which gives me a bit of a shine/glow if used on the right parts of my face (but can see why that might be too greasy for some skin types!). I started buying it in early lockdown when I was still a bit overly cautious and didn't want to go to Boots, when I could just pick it up at the supermarket and I found the shine is good on cheekbones!

exhaustedmonkey · 04/12/2020 00:58

Thanks @Elmo311 I wish I had known about that like 20 years ago! 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ I'll defo check this out!

OP I'm off to google the retinol now. Thanks!

Any ideas how to get rid of age spots? Heck I need everything done!! Sorry OP I hope you don't think I'm hijacking your thread. I'm sending fresh youthful vibes your way 🙅🏻‍♀️

bigmassivecoconut · 04/12/2020 02:01

Hijack away exhausted - great to keep the thread going! Hydroquinone cream will fade age spots - I've used it to get rid of pigmentation before. A good concealer (I use the Mac one in the round pot) can also work wonders if you aren't already using one. You should look into Dermatica and SkinandMe too for tretinoin and hydroquinone. They can do a prescription for quite cheap from what I've read on here. Currently looking into them myself!

OP posts:
Goingdooolally · 04/12/2020 06:47

I use Obagi ZO 1% retinol from the place I get my filler. But I’ve heard Dermatica is good. I know you can get Trentonin (so?) in-line but I’d prefer to buy mine from a doctor as it’s potent stuff!

exhaustedmonkey · 04/12/2020 10:13

Ooh lots of good tips here on things I haven't heard of. Would have made good Christmas presents. Instead I asked for new handbags (not for my eyes might I add!). I have developed a little obsession over my mat leave! But really I need to sort my face out hahaha!
OP let us know what you decide re, filler. I'd be interested in having my frown lines done. I frown permanently these days eek!
