Soft curlers for sleeping in

Lockdown hair disaster here. Too long to look decent but not long enough for an up-do. Up-do doesn't suit me anyway.

It's totally straight, heavy but not thick , clasps and combs just drop straight out. Have to use Babybliss Big Hair every morning to get some height in the crown area and to stop it being plastered flat to my head. But this is getting very tedious. Looking for soft curlers to put in overnight while sleeping. Can anyone recommend any comfortable ones please that curl well?

I don’t know the answer, but following as it sounds like we have the same hair!

I just got some twisty ones from the pound shop, but them in while hair slightly damp, and they seem to work.

Fruitpips99 · 02/12/2020 22:09

It's a nightmare that's for sure Tizzdeseason

Yes, I suppose twists would be more up-to-date than curls Summerhillsquare. Mind you at my age maybe not!

Anyone have any tips about particular methods/products please?

following, as I'm in need to something similar. I was wondering about velcro rollers, but I don't know how soft they are. Will go and explore some shops later I think!

I have velcro ones and tbh they are not that comfortable. I was hoping there would be some you barely notice but that's probably asking too much ... .

I know you can use strips of kitchen roll and rags etc but I'm also looking for something that's quick and easy to use.

I sometimes sleep with my hair plaited around a scarf.

Basically french braid pigtails with one of the strands being the scarf. This results in a larger and more volumous wave and because the hair goes over the scarf it provides root lift.

sqirrelfriends · 03/12/2020 13:55

It's also more attractive and comfortable than most other solutions I've found.

Fruitpips99 · 03/12/2020 13:55

sqirrelfriends that sounds amazing but sadly a bit too skilled for me, and hair not long enough

Sorry meant to add I am a bit ham-fisted with that sort of thing!

I don't get the root lift - does the scarf go round your hairline first sqirrel?

@bigmassivecoconut

Yeah, so basically:

fold or roll up scarf (I do this with a square scarf and fold it onto a triangle before rolling up)

Part and brush hair

Pace the middle of scarf on the top of your head and secure there with a Bobby pin

Take section from in front of the scarf and place over the scarf to start plaiting.

Carry on doing this ensuring that you place the hair over the scarf instead of going under and remember to not add hair to the scarf section.

Secure and begin on the next side.

I hope this helps.

That's fantastic Polecat03 thank you! Didn't realise they were an actual "thing"!

Thanks sqirrel - must try that sometime, although sounds like it would take a while to master!
