Dermatica - is it worth it?

As the title says really...

Sent my pictures off on Black Friday as they had a deal on.

I picked hyperpigmentation as I have uneven skin tone and marks from hormonal spot break outs.

Does anyone else rate them?

I’ve used since February. They are quite hands off, you get a prescription with a bit of advice but they leave you to it. You won’t need a new tube every month - mine lasts over three and goes out of date before it’s finished. I like the texture, my hyperpigmentation has pretty much gone now I’m just keeping up because I have tret in my prescription so using for anti ageing.

TableNiner · 02/12/2020 09:38

I do, really happy with the product and service. You can save money on moisturiser/serums as you really only need the Dermatica and a really basic one. I used to use Elemis products for example. Oh and 50 SPF too.

A started in august for my pigmentation.

HUGE improvement, wish I'd used it years ago after spending loads on various creams like Eucerin etc.

A really big difference in a short time for me.

It did make my skin peel a bit but not horrendous.

I have now reduced the frequency of my delivery as the tube lasts for quite a while.

Elfieishere · 02/12/2020 10:15

Thanks! It all sounds good so far.

@TableNiner I thought it would save money in the long run... I have a shelf full of different creams and acids etc but really I don’t know what I’m doing!

I was planning on doing the hyperpigmentation and if that improves over the next 6 months possibly switching to anti ageing.

I don’t have acne. I just get some minor spots every now and again when I’m due on.

I just checked my emails and seen this...

Month 1: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Clindamycin 1%

Month 2: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Clindamycin 1%

Month 3: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Clindamycin 1%

Months 4+: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Azelaic Acid 15%

I already have a bottle of The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% that I started using a couple of weeks ago... at least Iv been using something along the right lines.

That"s interesting to hear the tube lasts so long. I have subscribed to skin+me and there are exactly 28 days worth of product in the dispenser. The cost is the same I think, so it seems to be a much better deal to go with Dermatica.

QueenPaws · 02/12/2020 11:08

@Sunnywaves I found the results better with skin and me. Dermatica (well my prescription) was a more white gel type consistency and the skin and me is more traditional tret type
I peeled a lot with skin and me despite it being a lower strength than dermatica
Worth a try but I think most prefer one over the other!

I'm really happy with Dermatica so far. On my first month, anti ageing, wrinkles and pigmentation. So far I've peeled a little and sometimes feel a little sore but my skin already looks fresher and one pigmented patch is definitely paler. I was using very expensive anti ageing products from Elemis but this is better. As I can now use much more basic moisturiser and SPF 50 (Roche Posay is brilliant) it works out way cheaper too.

TooManyDogsandChildren · 02/12/2020 16:56

I have a Dermatica subscription and I'd say I am making progress but slowly. I chose to do it for sun spots on my face and it has dealt with the small ones after 4 months but the large patch seems pretty unaffected so far. Oddly enough it dealt really well with a similar size sun spot on my arm.

It has definitely improved the texture of my skin and I only rarely get spots now.

I'm in month 2 and my face looks much brighter already. My treatment is for anti-aging and hyperpigmentation. Sun spots (& freckles) much reduced. I'm using it with La Mer moisturiser (because that is what I had) and I've had no redness, soreness or peeling at all. It may be working so quickly as I've managed to use it daily right from the start, who knows.

Elfieishere · 06/12/2020 07:23

Thanks everyone. Still waiting for it to come but hopefully it will be here tomorrow.

Any recommendations on a moisturiser? I have a few here and Iv been looking at the Charlotte tilbury magic cream.

I have a £120 voucher that needs to be spend in Debenhams ASAP So willing to look at different ones.

@Elfieishere Dermatica recommend a cheap non fancy cream for night time as it's best not to use one with fancy stuff in on top of their cream. I use Cerave.

So perhaps spend it on a really good day cream with a high spf?

I use Biore which I get from Amazon. SPF 50. But pretty cheap.
