With the sad news about the Arcadia group going bust I’ve just realised That the only shop I can get clothes from now is Next! I’ve never really bought clothes online because I am plumper than I’m used to and don’t know how to dress for my figure, plus I am generally without style! Can anyone recommend any good sites?

I’m a size 18 with big boobs and a big tummy (think protruding tummy) but a smaller waist/ thin arms and legs). I like stylish and distinctive clothes like desigual, I used to like East, Phase Eight. I need a style overhaul in general I think, I don’t know what I’m doing but I know I look shite in whatever I wear anyway. I’d love to learn how to dress in a more flattering way for my figure while still keeping the style I like.

Too broke to pay more than £35 for a single item (well, a top or a pair of trousers) tend to wear tops and trousers but would love to be a cool dress or outfit person. Age 40.

Please help me vipers, I am useless!!

How about Zara, H&M, Mango? Joy and & Other Stories are good too

Have you considered getting a session with a stylist? It could really help....

I’m absolutely gutted. I live in Dorothy Perkins jersey maxi dresses. I’m disabled and had several stomach surgeries. They hide my varicose veins in my legs. The price was brilliant too!

You say you can't pay more than £35 for an item. How about going through your wardrobe and having a cull of everything you don't like. Then start a spreadsheet of what you think you need, based on your actual lifestyle, not the lifestyle you aspire to (something I'm guilty of). Where do you go and what do you? What footwear is best for those situations? What clothes would look good and be practical/appropriate? What coats/jackets do you need?
Once you have done that, save up until you have £3-400. No impulse buys in the meantime. Keep editing your spreadsheet and be ruthless. Then, you could either shop yourself, or book a personal shopping session at John Lewis. You can buy bigger ticket items, or better quality items, but less of them.
To answer your question about stores. You can still shop in person at H&M, Cos, Uniqglo, Arket, Zara, John Lewis, Mango. Work out which colours suit you and don't neglect to buy basics and neutrals, because a wardrobe doesn't work without them. You can inject personality with accessories.
Step away from Desigul!!
