Why am I now getting spots?

I am unsure whether I am getting spots due to the products I am using, or whether it is hormonal, or what.

I haven't changed the products I use for over a month - Estee Lauder or Elemis cleanser (on rotation), Nip and Fab hyaluronic serum, Estee Lauder eye cream and Estee Lauder Day Wear or Night Wear.

Worn the same brands of make up forever.

Brushes cleaned regularly, make up taken off at night etc., I don't think it is a hygiene issue.

I've started to get spots on one cheek, near my nose.

Do you think its products related, or hormones? I am 45, don't think I am prei-menopausal.

Hormonal I would think.

GP can prescribe something to help, I think it’s the best course of action as spots are treatable in lots of cases.

Could it be mask wearing? Some of my friends have had problems with that.

I started getting spots early/mid 40s after a lifetime of relatively clear skin.

I don't think it is mask wearing, as I only wear a mask once a week (to do the supermarket shop).

Probably hormonal then. Great! Its only a few spots - I wouldn't bother a GP about it as its quite minor. I've always had decent skin, so am finding it a surprise to suddenly see spots.

I was getting spots which I thought were hormonal (I’m slightly older than you)
I normally wear a mask every day but having not had to wear one for the last few days the spots have cleared up massively

The nose is fairly germ ridden oily area, if your going to get a spot it’s a good place to start.

I wouldn’t ignore it, I did that at 41, went cystic and came off roaccutane at 42!. Mine started with a spot on my nose that escalated and one under my eye socket. I’m still scarred now but it’s starting to fade.

I’m surprised at the suggestions to see the GP due to a few spots. I go to the GP very infrequently as my health has been so good (frantically touching wood now) so I wonder if my ‘you need to see the GP about this’ radar is really off kilter.

Well, one spot that comes up and fecks off quickly is technically acne but you don’t need to see the dr.

Re-current spots need the dr. It shows you’ve got infection that your body isn’t coping with. Also these things can escalate. Ask me how I know 😃.

I will make an effort to keep track of them hen Fluffy, thanks. I am useless at things like this - really unaware of how long I’ve had things or intervals between episodes and stuff.

Gp suggestion is because not much will rid you of hormonal spots.

Mine were such a massive painful problem which only a prescription could solve.

Which it did by the way.
