Plantar Fasciitis and slippers anyone?

I have PF and it’s been going on a while. Podiatrist has given me some insoles which do seem to have helped a bit. However when I’m at home, which I am all the time and have been since March , I’m wearing slippers which my insoles don’t go into. Any recommendations for Cosy slippers (but not too old lady-ish Smile) with enough shape to fit an insole in, and maybe a tiny little bit of heel because completely flat shoes are a no/no.
Thank you in advance.

Oh this is really interesting. My dh has started with PF and doesn’t wear slippers. I wonder if wearing some in the house would help.

BootCampSucker · 30/11/2020 17:48

I wear these all the time (in my shoes and round the house with slippers or on bare feet) and my PF has pretty much gone since I got them.

The podiatrist specifically told me to avoid Skechers too and crocs were awful for mine. Both too soft.

innnnnnteresting, I wear Oofos at home but they are flipflops so I have cold toes a lot. Will check these recommendations out!

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/11/2020 18:48

Don't walk round in bare feet if you have pf .

JulietMadeChutney · 30/11/2020 22:51

I wear bog-standard-bought-for-Christmas slippers with a birkenstock insole in. Happy feet.

FMyUterus · 30/11/2020 22:54

Oofos are shoes especially made for plantar fasciitis sufferers and omg they have changed my life

HedgieHog · 30/11/2020 22:58

@CaptainMyCaptain I’m terrible for being hard foot and should know better as had 3 flare ups of PF. Reading this with interest, I should get some suitable slippers I think

HedgieHog · 30/11/2020 22:58

Bare feet not hard!!

@Scarby9

My mum's podiatrist told her not to wear slippers at all, but to wear supportive shoes all the time in the house.
Yes! I bought a cheap pair of derby lace ups to wear in the house (since lockdown I was living barefoot and ended up aching from ankle to spine) and wear them for a few hours around the house. It worked a treat.
AgathaX · 30/11/2020 23:00

Hotter slippers are the only ones that I can wear. Not the most fashion forward, but there are some ok ones on their site.

Crackery · 30/11/2020 23:02

Another nod to fitflop slippers here

jingabellrock · 30/11/2020 23:08

I heard that Birkenstocks are great for this.

Poshjock · 30/11/2020 23:10

Sketchers absolutely saved me. I kept a "house" pair of slip on trainers for use indoors. I used gel insoles with a soft foam insole on top in my work boots but the only thing that really worked was to reduce the weight of them, so I ended up buying my own. My steel sole and toe cap boots weighed 1KG each and swapping to composite material has reduced to weight to 1.1KG for the pair. It was only doing this with the insoles that helped. I still use sketchers a lot and I am very careful about what I walk in now. I also still use gel insoles with arch support to prevent recurrence.

Another fitflop slippers fan

GlowingOrb · 30/11/2020 23:12

Aetrex and vionic both have cozy slippers designed for pf

Miranda15110 · 30/11/2020 23:43

Did your podiatrist show you how to tape your feet? It really worked for me.

Bumblebee46 · 30/11/2020 23:51

Vionic slippers brilliant for plantar fasciitis- v expensive but worth it!

unfriendlyfriend · 01/12/2020 00:57

Another vote for skechers. The comfiest slippers I ever bought. Great for pf

unfriendlyfriend · 01/12/2020 01:00

I have the keepsake ice angel

Look at runners recovery shoes (oofos as mentioned upthread) or other high end running companies also make them, the ones I like are by Hoka OneOne. Long runs trash your arches so runners recovery shoes have massive arch support to allow the arches to rest. Some are flip flops, some are more like pumps. As with most running gear, you can often get last year's styles and colours half price online.

Shosha1 · 01/12/2020 12:45

I wear Crocs, you can get some quite pretty ones now. They are the only shoes that help me. I've even bought some Chelsea Boot style this year as as soon as I use any other type if shoe the PF comes back.

Daisy829 · 02/12/2020 20:28

Thanks for this info. I’ve ordered DH some vionic slippers to add to his Xmas pressies.
