As I edge towards mid thirties I'm trying to up my skincare game... current routine has been a bit patchy but is currently a bit like this (mostly using up odds and ends of products so not always religiously this)

AM
Cleanse with micellar water
Some kind of face oil/serum (often drunk elephant vitamin c)
Day moisturiser

PM
Remove makeup but rarely wear it now
Cleanse with micellar water or face wash if in the shower
Sometimes exfoliate (combination skin)
Some kind of serum or face oil
Retinol moisturiser

Thinking of adding a daily SPF50, toner and some other potions (though wfh still wondering if I should!) and figuring what else I should start using! Do the odd sheet mask or eye once in a blue moon but hardly regularly.

Looking for some inspo :-)

I'm a cheapskate and I use Aldi products, facewash, serum, moisturiser, day cream and night cream. I also buy pure almond oil - not from Aldi - and use it to make my own body lotion.

Is the Drunk Elephant worth the money?

reducingfootprint · 27/11/2020 16:42

AM

PM

Cleanse with the cetaphil one above
The ordinary niacinamide and zinc serum or retinol from the ordinary
Nivea skin moisturiser (white tub)
Use a face oil on top of moisturiser twice a week

I really like the drunk elephant serums.. but trying to figure out if other cheaper brands are just as good as it's not the easiest to get hold of and prices compared to the US are $$$!

Nivea white tub has been a staple product for years.. I think I'll always go back to that one in between fancier products or whenever I get a bit skint Grin

I'm one of those people who isn't big on skincare 😳
Good wash with soap, water and a slightly rough flannel in the morning then I use Aldi Q10 Day cream with spf20 (I use one with higher spf in summer) then in the evening it's a repeat but I use BodyShop Vitamin E sleep mask. Twice a week I use an exfoliating face mask.

Oohlalalalala · 28/11/2020 08:26

Mine is:

Morning
La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Hydrating Cleansing Cream
Bioderma Sebium Hydra moisturiser
Ambre Solaire Ultra-Light Sensitive Face Fluid SPF50+

Evening
Same La Roche-Posay Cleansing Creme
But also Korres White Tea Gel Cleanser afterwards
COSRX Snail Mucin Serum
Dermatica subscription with 0.05% tretinoin and hydroquinone
Curel Intensive Moisture Facial Cream
Vaseline for lips and any dry bits from the tret

I wouldn’t mind adding in a vitamin C and perhaps should be exfoliating??

Oohlalalalala · 28/11/2020 08:33

@BubbleTeaJunkie @MaelyssQ

I’ve heard the Geek and Gorgeous vitamin C and the Garden of Wisdom ones are good and cheaper than Drunk Elephant.

SOboredofcleaning · 28/11/2020 08:39

Wash in shower with water & a flannel.
La roche possay factor 50 during the day

Very simple. I want as few chemicals on my face as possible!

QueenPaws · 28/11/2020 11:46

TableNiner · 28/11/2020 12:11

Cerave PM moisturiser
SPF 50, currently various Eucerin ones

PM

I'll take a look at those thank you! I've fallen down the skincare rabbit hole on Google this morning 😁

I'm toying with the idea of moving to a Korean skincare routine as I've heard very good things... but I know you need to change products one at a time so I don't want to go too Gung Ho.. plus I've got a fair bit to use up and just did a haul from beauty pie so need to hold my horses 😬

BacktoB · 28/11/2020 18:30

AM - asda tea tree scrub/wash/mask 3 in 1
la roche posay serozinc toner spray thing (best thing I own)
upcircle beauty coffee serum
cc cream with spf20

PM -
clarins water purify one step cleanser or m&s formula hot cloth cleanser (or both if I caked on the make up)
serozinc spray (again)
antipodes kiwi oil eye cream
then either a serum (the ordinary vitamin c one) or a mask (various, but love the sea magic skincare black clay one)
m&s ultimate sleep cream (honestly, this is so amazing, and is on offer at the moment, and everyone should have it)

n.b. Sometimes I do it all. Sometimes I do none of it.

BacktoB · 28/11/2020 18:31

p.s. Am 36, and really lucky with my skin, never spotty or anything. I don't think I look my age...!

BecomeStronger · 28/11/2020 18:35

I'm 50 and have come to the conclusion, after trying all kinds of price ranges, that keeping it simple is best.

I wash my face with aqueous cream and a hot cloth and use the basic Olay moisturisers.

The only thing that makes a difference to lines, imo, is to drink plenty of water, which seems to visibly plump up my skin.

reducingfootprint · 28/11/2020 19:38
