To keep (with fingers crossed!) or send to charity shop?

Like many others I have put on weight over this year (not helped by medication for serious heart failure) so my size 14 jeans, skirts etc and size 16 tops no longer fit.
Should I keep them just in case I shrink or just accept being a larger size?
Realistically dieting over the summer barely reduced my weight by a few pounds. And should I give up wearing jeggings now I am apparently resembling a parsnip?! 😳
I am 5’6”, 12 st 5 😢, I have put on over a stone.
It’s depressing trying to struggle into too tight jeans.

I'd compromise. Store the items that are more basics, like your jeans, and give away the others. Then, should you lose weight, you can buy yourself some new things that will 'lift' your wardrobe.

I’d keep them

Is it steroids you take?

My weight has varied a lot due to medication. I’d rather not spend money buying bigger or smaller clothes when I already own them.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/11/2020 19:58

I vote Keep. Have you somewhere to store them where they won't annoy in the meanwhile? You can always review the situation 12 months along or whatever.

Keep the special things that you love, get rid of the rest. Buy new clothes that fit and don’t make you sad.

I am a serial yo-yo dieter. I keep clothes that do not fit me at the moment in boxes in the basement. I only keep / buy clothes that I know I will be pleased to wear again, even if my size has gone up.

Notarealmum · 28/11/2020 11:14

I cleared out loads of clothes thinking I’d never wear them again. Against the odds I ended up losing a fair bit of weight, and often find myself mourning the loss of said (classic/vintage) garments (some of which I gave to friends and have even considered, in weaker moments, asking for them back as they don’t even wear them!)

Put some away but Buy yourself some lovely clothes in your size now. You need to feel good about yourself.

Terralee · 28/11/2020 11:35

My weight varies as I feel hungry a lot due to meds.
I keep nice 'slimmer' clothes as inspiration.
But I also recommend buying clothes that suit you & look good now to make you feel better.

I'm assuming the tablets will be long term. Don't beat yourself up about side effects. Clothes that fit are always more flattering than ones you squeeze into. Treat yourself to some lovely clothes the fit you now. Anyway you're not that big.I'm an inch taller than you and a lot heavier.
