Anyone got a Phillips lumea - is it worth it?

I’m thinking of ordering one of these. I have had laser hair removal on my face at a salon before and it worked but I need a top up and I would prefer to do it myself if I can- works out less expensive and I could also do my legs and under arms.
So what do I need to know, does it work and is it worth it?
My skin colour is white and hair is dark.

I bought one recently after reading all of the old threads on here and other online reviews. I got the Lumea Prestige. To be honest I was doubtful it would work for me as I have very coarse, dark hair and it seemed too good to be true. I have the type of hair that never really looks/feels like you have shaved even when you have just done it. I have just completed my third fortnightly treatment and its absolutely changed my life. I am so impressed with the results. After the first treatment thought I was going to be in the small minority of people that they refer to in the manual that actually see more hair growth as things seemed to be a bit worse but then I definitely started seeing results by the second treatment. I can now a couple of weeks without needing to shave at all which is mind boggling for me and I think things are only going to get better as I move through the treatments. I also don't have problems with really itchy regrowth that I used to. One thing that hasn't changed much yet is that I still have the dark dots on my legs under the skin where you can see the hair follicles and other people had said those would disappear too so I'm hopeful. I'm in my mid thirties and I really wish I had saved up and got one sooner, knowing what I know now. Other info- I have dark hair and pale skin so can use it on the highest setting (5). It doesn't really hurt but there can be a bit of heat/stinging sensation when you zap. Its a breeze compared to epliating anyway!

I’m excited! I’ve just ordered a SmoothSkin Bare+ IPL machine for £150!!! I decided to have a good google and found some other home IPL hair removal devices that were as good and if not better than the Lumea.

I looked at this article, clicked through and saw it had 25% off. So I’ve purchased it and with this and the aid of fake tan, it could be the first summer ever I could have bare legs!!!! This is exciting territory for a person who has never been able to get even their calves out before due to dotty white legs.

I shall report back.

I have the lumea. I haven’t been religious about using it, but it has definitely had an impact on my chin hairs. I had to pluck multiple times a day before, now I might pluck a hair or two a week.

Yes justanotherneighinparadise dotty white legs, that’s me when they aren’t hairy. It’s arrived today so I’ll be taking a look later.

I took the plunge and bought the Lumea Prestige a couple of months ago. I suffer from PCOS and could easily spend an hour each day plucking hairs from my lip, chin and neck. I have followed the boot camp and I can honestly say I noticed a dramatic difference from the 2nd treatment. Now I maybe pluck a couple of hairs every 4 or 5 days when I pretty much could've grown a lady beard in that time previously! Next treatment scheduled in 2 weeks, it's quick and painless, no more ingrown hairs or bad spots. It was pricey but hands down the best thing I have purchased....no more evening "shadow" !
I'm going to start my underarms and legs nextWink

I love mine. I'm quite hairy but for me it's not just the aesthetics - the discomfort of shaving rash, getting stubbly goose bumps and constant bikini line maintenance was such a ball ache.
I got it a few months ago, and did the initial round of treatments (which are time consuming but I just did it whilst watching TV) and it's gotten rid of about 75% of the hair I would say.
The annoying thing is the treatment window is so small and you can't see where you've been so you do miss quite a lot, even when you're trying to be really thorough.

I also can't wait to go on holiday next year and not have to worry about shaving my legs!

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/12/2020 16:55

So my IPL machine came today and so far I’ve done my lower legs, forearms and underarms. I’m going to do my upper legs tomorrow as I need to shave first. My also try it on my face and bikini area 😬
