jeangenie · 19/10/2007 13:31

I bought them both at lunchtime and will bring one back next week. Need something warm for a trip to Glasgow next week. I like them both so need a quick poll.

(I'm palish with brown hair and my palette this autumn is brown with accents of blue and green )

1.in green actually a brighter green in RL

2.in a brown and blue dot pattern which they don't appear to have on website goddamit

3.(also like in brown but they didn't have in my size)

1 is lovely

CappuScreamO · 19/10/2007 13:33

like the green one

Gobbledispook · 19/10/2007 13:34

Hmm, like both. NOt sure about a spotty version of no 2.
DOn't like no. 3.

kindersurprise · 19/10/2007 13:34

I like the green one

Fimbo · 19/10/2007 13:39

NO 1

puppydavies · 19/10/2007 13:57

not spent it all yet then?

i like 3 best. 1 is very now so good to make a statement but will date quickly. colour is good though. no to 2.

jeangenie · 19/10/2007 14:08

hey PD
no idea how much I have spent now tbh
bought boots on ebay and they are way too big so am back on hunt again
did get some nice shoes today though and I thought of you - did you ever get your shoes? I have all these great clothes now but no footwear to go with them [frustrated face] - until now

funnily enough, the one person I showed the coats too in RL liked no2!!! it's not really dotty, but a subtle kind of weave...am not explaining this very well

puppydavies · 19/10/2007 14:26

got my shoes and some boots. and that coat. and some skirts, 5 it turns out . and trousers. and a dress. and 6 tops. and a cashmere cardi. and some jumpers... lordy is only now i realise how much i blame it all on sleep deprived delirium and bftastic baby not letting me get up off the sofa.

i have lovely new clothes and want a night out so i can wear them

i like no 2. but its a bit long, mid thigh is more flattering. so no 1?

Mercy · 19/10/2007 14:34

Prefer the green one - it's also 70% wool which will keep you warm.

There is another military coat which I've seen in Next - also navy.

jeangenie · 19/10/2007 17:25

hmm, not sure mid-thigh would be best on me (have rather large ones!) the other comes to just above my knee which looked good with todays skirt
PD RESPECT! that all sounds great but I want to see pictures oh guru of style...(funnily enough I managed to pick up glorious cashmere cardi in vintage clothes shop yesterday, fab blue colour, for £15 )

puppydavies · 19/10/2007 18:12

you mean a kind of birds eye tweed thing, yeah? not like huge polkadots. knee length is good, am just not sure about military styling, has been around a few years now is it not a bit tired? (hark at me, am definitively NOT fashion queen, i don't care if something is in or not as long as i like it, but fashions can persuade me i like something when i thought i didn't iyswim).

how well does it work with your other stuff, that's all quite girly isn't it. pity about no. 3...

GreatHauntieWurly · 19/10/2007 18:23

i like the style of no2 but not sure about the pattern tho, not so keen on no1

Skyler · 19/10/2007 18:47

I have number 3 in brown and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It is so flattering on me and such a good fit. So number 3, but in brown .
I actually really like number 1 too, but it wasn't my colour.

Skyler · 19/10/2007 18:49

Number 3 is a good length I think. Can you not order it from Next Directory?

Skyler · 19/10/2007 18:49

In brown I mean.

themoon66 · 19/10/2007 18:52

Ilike the colour of number 1 and the shape of number 3

Tortington · 19/10/2007 18:55

i like 2

Loulee · 19/10/2007 22:42

number 1, no question.

Beenleigh · 19/10/2007 23:03

2 nicest, and think it will look even nicer in the fabric you describe

jeangenie · 19/10/2007 23:47

yes, birds eye tweed, that's it - y'see PD you are indeed guru of style. Imagine knowing the term for birds eye tweed . I continue to be in total awe...
so, DH liked no. 1 but then absolutely loved no.2 (he likes that whole WW2 utilitarian look) and I got a friend round tonight to give her twopence worth and she also voted no. 2 (although they both think need bigger size so either have to go back to next tomorrow or freeze in glasgow or get the year before lasts out of loft)tbh it doesn't look THAT military as teh colour is soft and subtle - brown with a very nice blue in it

they also like no 1 but it flares out a lot on the bottom and is a bit short for wearing with skirts and also a bit, well, green. Which goes with plain brown but not so well with some other stuff...

anyway, I did get to go out tonight in my new boots and skirt and cashmere cardi and my friend pronounced I was looking lovely so all is good (after a few drinks anyway ) PD get out there in your finery girl

will try on coats again in cool light of day and decide then

I love the green one and tried that very coat on. I think it's fab! If it's any help, the weather here (just outside Glasgow) has been lovely lately very sunny and quite mild (well mild for here in October!) so if you don't choose one before you get here it might not matter too much - you won't freeze! (and if it is cold then buy it in Glasgow's Next)

nappyaddict · 20/10/2007 01:13

either the green (also like it in teal) or the brown.
