At home pore reduction

ServeTheServants · 25/11/2020 06:57

I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully managed to reduce their pores using products / techniques at home. I am 36 and in the past year, have noticed that my pores have enlarged considerably and it’s making me feel awful. I wear Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation (I have scarring from a childhood accident that I am self conscious of, so I like full coverage), but the pores are very obviously there still.

My husband would like to get me something for Christmas, so was thinking this would be a great opportunity to purchase some products that might help. Huge thanks.

Very thin layer of sudocrem rubbed in each night was recommended to me by a mum with fab skin. Worth a try first.

Glycolic acid is good for getting rid of them, lots of people like pixi glow tonic but me and a friend dont rate it at all. I like superdrug own brand glycoli or i get nip and fab when its on offer. Steaming your face is good aswell and face feels amazing.

Mine are much better (and skin as a whole) after buying retin a cream (tretinoin gel) from pharmacy Geoff online.

Thank you all, I shall investigate. Loving the sudocrem recommendation...that would be a bargain!

The ordinary niacinimide plus zinc

Sudocrem gave me terrible acne.... along with steaming.

Nothing greasy, get the non pore blocking creams (non comodogenic). Use a good cleanser and exfoliate regularly. Use a primer before make up. As your skin loses elasticity, it will sag and make the pores larger, so need a good firming cream. Retinoid cream can be good, might need that on prescription though. Some of the Estée Lauder products are very rich and may make enlarged pores worse.

I started using The Ordinary Azeleic Acid to see if it helped my redness, and my pores look so much better. I'm also using the Niacinimide for the last 2 weeks and that has added to the effect

The only thing I have tried that has worked is prescription tretinoin, the results are brilliant.

Stripesnomore · 25/11/2020 12:56

Tretinoin, niacinamide, glycolic acid.

Double wear didn’t work for me. Try maybelline fit me matte and poreless. I went through many expensive foundations before finding this.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your wonderful suggestions.

I’ll also get some of the Maybelline foundation you recommend; sadly I do think I have got to the stage where Double Wear is no longer suitable.

Thanks again.
