Can anyone please recommend straighteners for dry coarse hair that leave you hair with a lovely shine.

Thanks!

Cliche answer but ghd very time.

I have thick wavy hair and I use my God's with a heat protective spray and a squirt of John Freida finishing gloss at the end and it leaves my hair all shiny and swingy.

I don't use straighteners really but there was a thread on GHDs just the other day - a lot of people saying the newer models are not that good and the Cloud Nines are better. Unless you can get your hands on older GHDs. Although maybe some people disagree.

dalmatianmad · 24/11/2020 18:08

I have cloud nine and they are far better than GHD's.

londonscalling · 24/11/2020 19:29

Thank you. Any particular model of Cloud Nines?

You want something called a steam pod. It steams and straightens at the same time so is better for your hair and adds noticeably more shine.

Here you go

I've heard good things about the Steam Pod too but worry if will make me sweaty. Steam near my face almost always results in instant sweating for me. Any other sweaty bettys tried it? Also, can you do a fringe with it?

SlightlyJaded · 24/11/2020 22:01

Oh that's interesting about the newer model GHDs. Mine are over 10 years old and as good as the day I bought them.

ParkheadParadise · 24/11/2020 22:06

I have
GHD'S
Cloud 9's
Diva
Using my cloud 9's just now.

I second the steam pod - you can definitely do a fringe with it and my hair is very smooth/shiny afterwards (I have very coarse, thick hair). It's really really great. You can also add oil to the water to make it even shinier

Thanks everyone. Really appreciated!!

I love my ghds. Would never have anything else

OxanaVorontsova · 25/11/2020 03:36

I’ve just had to replace my ancient (twice repaired) ghds and went for £25 Remingtons, they’re the shine therapy ones and are fab!

tobee · 25/11/2020 05:27

I've just got some Remingtons too and have used twice so far with good results!

frosted232 · 25/11/2020 06:40

I've got the remington hydraluxe steam straighteners. They are a cheaper version of the steam pods and the best straighteners I've ever used on my curly hair and I've tried ghd and cloud 9. I had them half price at £75 as well.

Terriblecreature · 25/11/2020 06:48

I use Divs Straightners myself (were recommend by sallys/salon services) they are good but same price as ghds. I recently borrowed my MILs ghds when on holiday and I much preferred mine x

londonscalling · 26/11/2020 21:45

Thanks everyone. Thought I'd see how I get on with the cheaper Remington Shine Therapy ones to start with. Bought them today and really pleased with them!
