Boots...help me

I need a new pair or a couple of pairs.

I'm wearing a 3 year old pair of UGG leather boots. The stout leather ones cant remember the name.

I have no car and do a lot of walking.

I'd need a pair to cope with that and also a pair for work on the commute etc.

Ideas 💡

Thank you

Dr Martens! Smile

Newuser991 · 21/11/2020 14:15

I looked at those. Are they not a bit teenage?

Agree with DMs and I have no issue with wearing them as a non teen 😁

CatchingWind · 21/11/2020 15:38

Fly London boots are pretty hardy.

Snackasaurus · 21/11/2020 16:20

@Newuser991 Nope! I wear them all the time and they're very comfortable, very practical, go with almost everything and they never let water in.

FirmlyRooted · 21/11/2020 16:56

Ecco. Comfortable and good quality.

Hohohole · 21/11/2020 16:59

I have fur lined Dr Martens. So comfortable.

These ones

Newuser991 · 21/11/2020 17:29

OK thank you

Do what about a smarter pair too? Capable of being left on at work? 😀

Snackasaurus · 21/11/2020 17:30

I wear mine for work 😃

Newuser991 · 21/11/2020 17:54

I cant really do that

Oak and hyde boots are very sturdy. Bit small made, but they will last a while.

Bluntness100 · 21/11/2020 18:03

Dr martens are apparantly a bastard to break in and give you blisters. There was a thread on here recently and everyone was saying the same thing.

Hohohole · 21/11/2020 18:07

My Dr Martens didn't need to be broken in. Probably due to the fur lining. My feet are a bit wide too.

They would be good for work.

Thinkle · 21/11/2020 19:00

The amount of break in required varies by the DM boot and leather. I have two pairs of boots and one pair of shoes (I wear the shoes in a professional job, styled as you would brogues).

The more patent the leather the harder to break in. I have some Sinclair boots that are in a very soft leather and I’ve worn them straight out of the box. But even the patent ones I have are fine now.
I preemptively wore blister plasters for the first few wears of my harder leather ones. I appreciate that many people will not want to spend that much money and also have to break in shoes but I love the style and the durability so it was worth it for me.

Thank you all

Would it be a bad idea to order a pair or wait until end of lockdown so I can try them on

OP posts:
Snackasaurus · 22/11/2020 10:06

@Newuser991 I'd definitely wait to try them on but also wait til after Christmas as they usually have an amazing sale! Smile

Miaowse · 22/11/2020 10:36

Are the Ugg boots either Bonham or Lavelle? My friend has Lavelles but I don’t think they make them any longer. They seem to do Bonhams every year. Here’s the stout version:

Newuser991 · 22/11/2020 11:03

Neither

I can't find them but they look like this but instead the zip in on the inside and they have 3 buckles on the inside

@FirmlyRooted

Ecco. Comfortable and good quality.
Second this. I live in Ecco boots.
QueenPaws · 22/11/2020 12:11

Ugg Wilcox?

Newuser991 · 22/11/2020 15:01

@QueenPaws

Ugg Wilcox?
Yes. Not something like that. Too heavy and too many buckles
