Alternative to brazilian keratin treatment

Hello - I am looking for alternatives to brazilian keratin treatment / blow-dry that I can use safely while pregnant. Not really looking and feeling my best right now so at least I can try and get my hair looking half decent - blow drying it at the moment takes ages and I'm still left with loads of frizz and unruly curls. I've heard of Frizz Ease 3 day straight and Tresemme keratin 7 day smooth which you can buy from boots. Are any of these any good?

Ok, this is probably not what you’re looking for but I’m a little evangelical for going no silicones. I have thick wavy hair that got so dry around age 40 after my last baby. I responded by lathering one expensive ( silicone rich) conditioners until my Barnet had all the charm of a Brillo pad. I chanced upon the no poo, wash with silicone free conditioner and also accepted my hair was never going to be straight and sleek. 10 years later it’s looking 100% better. I’d never go back to straightening, hair serums etc. Frizz ease is basically silicones in a bottle and while it may get better in the short term, in the long term the silicone build up will dry your hair out by coating it and preventing water penetration during washing.

You could get the Ghd glide, wash it in the evening then quickly run the brush through in the morning for straight hair. I find if I do it I can go 3/4 days before needing to again

Thanks @Joeyandpacey - I will look into this glide.

@whataboutbob - thanks for this. I did try look into no poo / cgm but does that make your hair curlier - i.e. encourage more curls? I ask because I have no issues wearing my hair curly but just want to get rid of the frizz and have manageable hair. I'm also happy with my natural curl and don't want tighter curls if that makes sense.

I think it does encourage the curls by giving them more definition. I’m not a true curly, more a wavy. For some reason my hair only gets curly after a swim in the sea. The texture is 100% better. A lot less frizz, even when I go out in the rain. More shiny. DH commented on this recently saying my hair looks the best it has done since he’s known me. Go for it! I use faith in nature conditioners to wash with. It does however take some time to work. You should do a “last” wash with a shampoo to get rid of silicones. , then just use conditioner. Saying that I have used shampoo from time to time eg after swimming in a chlorinated pool.

I used the Frizz Ease 3 day straight and found it utterly crap! It did nothing for my hair. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but I followed all the instructions and am far from a novice hair straightener, having straightened my hair for decades, (although not recently as frankly CBA)!

If you do embrace the curl, I find a drop of Marula Oil from the Ordinary + Cantu products for curly hair really puts moisture and weight back. No frizz.
But I don't know if Cantu contain silicones. I don't think so.
