Big, comfy, cotton knickers are by far the best for avoiding vpl. I've tried them all, multiple thongs, the very thin ones sold as no vpl but apart from the obvious advantages of being big comfy and cotton, the big ones are by far the best. You don't want elastic around the legs , so shorts best and they need to be maybe half a size bigger than you think but definitely the way to go.

IMO they look better than fancy pants without clothes too Grin

I have come to the conclusion that no knickers are best for avoiding VPL with 100% certainty.

mummmy2017 · 20/11/2020 10:33

Thongs are gross, when people see them hanging out if your jeans, we do not think how sexy, and yes both sexes are sniggering.

nevernotstruggling · 20/11/2020 12:49

I feel your pain op.
I still cling on to some microfibre shorts from marks that were amazing. Now they are nowhere to be found in shops.

The H&M recommended on here high waisted are ok in terms of no vpl and shaping but fucking uncomfortable.

Like you op I'm having more success with cotton shorts I think they are from matalan!!

I bought a thing for the first time in years from marks. Honestly duck that felt horrific. I like myself enough not to inflict that one mysrkf!!

Yy to the sizing up. I overheard the best advice from a teenager in primark in torquay years ago - it was 'god you can't buy your actual size in knickers!!! Gives you a fat roll even if you're tiny!!!' Mind blown!!

motherofgod2 · 20/11/2020 13:53

Sizing up in knickers has been a life changer for me. I tell everyone to do it.

KaptainKaveman · 20/11/2020 13:56

I have never understood the penchant for thongs. Don't they give you a rash in your bottom crack? and itch/irritate like buggery?

Badgerbadger22 · 20/11/2020 13:59

@KaptainKaveman “like buggery” Grin spat my tea out reading that. Sums up things quite well

Badgerbadger22 · 20/11/2020 13:59

Thongs not things!!

KaptainKaveman · 20/11/2020 14:56

I find them hideous to contemplate. Don't they get stinky as well?

puttergal · 20/11/2020 15:07

See I'll be in thongs til the day I die.
No VPL, don't take up any room in the washing machine, what's not to like?

MikeUniformMike · 20/11/2020 16:43

oh but you do get vpl with thongs. it looks like you are wear teeny tiny knickers with big wobbly bum cheeks hanging out.

KaptainKaveman · 20/11/2020 19:33

puttergal don't they get stinky and make your bumble sore?

KaptainKaveman · 20/11/2020 19:33

bumhole!!!

Happymum12345 · 20/11/2020 20:02

Cant beat knickers up to your armpits! Pull up high and wear them big!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 20/11/2020 20:10

At some point between 20ish and 30ish I became mumsy stopped perceiving VPL as inherently problematic, and actually slightly prefer the way my bum looks with a v faint knicker line across it. Grin Not like too-tight buttock-sliced-in-half style, but the idea of trying to look like I’m not wearing any knickers now seems really weird!

laudemio · 20/11/2020 20:18

Or shorts are good too

Bwlch · 20/11/2020 20:39

Shorts wouldn't really work under a mini skirt.

Vargas · 20/11/2020 20:43

Sizing up is essential but I go 2 sizes up. So comfy.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 20/11/2020 20:48

So I’ve come to the conclusion that different shapes knickers suit different shapes bums. Mine is a sticky out rounded one, any knickers ride up so with a thong it’s less fabric and I don’t notice it - with boxers, shorts, other knickers I’m constantly pulling them out!
As to stinky - well I don’t tend to sniff my pants when I take them off - but not sure why they would smell more than anyone else’s? I certainly don’t pass out from the stench when I remove them though!

LaurieFairyCake · 20/11/2020 20:54

As an aside 'bumble' is WAY better than 'bumhole'

RandomMess · 20/11/2020 21:06

I am very short and ladies knickers are just cut wrong for my shortness Sad

Comfy knickers have been hard to find but mainly proper shorts (nice and modest under short dresses or skirts) or GAP breathe rang - no VPL as nothing digging on!

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 20/11/2020 23:55

They don't go that far up your bum, no matter how tight they are!
puttergal · 21/11/2020 17:10

In answer to the question to me, I guess they (thongs) would only go stinky if your bum hole was stinky/not clean.
I do try and have a clean bum build as much as possible - so it's not been a problem.
I agree different knickers suit different shaped bums, I always size up and wear cotton only.
I never get rashes etc (been wearing thongs for 20 years)

Designercornishbird · 21/11/2020 17:59

Sizing up! How much do you size up?? Shock this is probably why they’re never comfortable on me

Miseryisabutterfly · 21/11/2020 18:54

Has anyone seen Pen15? The thing episode is hilarious.

I agree op, big pants for the win. I always wear a size bigger than I am and I have no vpl issues!

Miseryisabutterfly · 21/11/2020 18:54

*thong!
