It's wrecking me. Looks, weight, teeth. I don't even enjoy most of it. Has anyone given it up or dramatically reduced it after eating a lot of it? Please help inspire me!

@ageingdisgracefully I can't believe how many candied vegetables there are now. That might be my line too far. @justanotherneighinparadise mine should currently be running at Porsche levels given the amount of lard I'm carrying. Blush. A another day under my belt though now

Don't you get bad headaches if you stop eating carbs? I haven't got a sweet tooth, but I have a regular diet with the usual pasta, rice and so on. When I tried low-carbing I felt quite unwell so I went back to normal. Maybe low-carving doesn't suit everyone?

There is a transition period where you will feel rough. It’s basically carb withdrawal. For most it’s a couple of days, for some it might be a week. It goes away. You’ll get the same if you quit caffeine after drinking it for years. It’s a withdrawal and you’ll get banging headaches.

It depends on how low-carb you go. If you go very low-carb you might get carb flu for a couple of days. That approach = fast weight loss. However, if you reduce your carbs but still eat eg all types of fruit/veg/potatoes/oats and occasional wholewheat pasta then you’ll still lose weight, just more slowly. I basically cut all refined sugar and all the artificial crap that I could, and cooked with olive oil/butter rather than sunflower oil, and cut most bread. But I had porridge for breakfast and quite a lot of potatoes.

Glad you’re sticking with it, well done! You could spend a bit of time thinking about your usual triggers and how you’ll avoid them in future. For me a huge one was home baking, if I’ve made it myself I’m stuffing it all in my face before they’ve properly cooled. I avoid baking on my own now, and if the kids are baking I let them take the lead so it’s far less appetising!

When do the withdrawal spots clear? I've got humungus ones on my lip, my eyelid and the end of my nose ffs! It's like my body is rebelling against me!
