Looking for the simplest possible moisturiser - allergies

I have dry/burning/red eyes and have been back and forth to various opticians/hospital clinic for years. My optician has suggested using nothing at all on my face and just the one type of eye drop as a last resort before looking to prescribe steroid drops. I think it's about 50% better but my skin is so dry now.

Does anyone know of a good moisturiser with a very short list of ingredients please?

I have the same problem and I like Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Face Cream, which you can get from Boots/Superdrug. Non fragranced, doesn't sting my eyes and keeps my skin supple and bouncy all day.

Trying them 1 by 1 a few days apart. I got the Coco one because it had fewest ingredients

I can only use Child’s Farm otherwise my skin reacts. It’s cheap too.

Branleuse · 17/11/2020 17:22

coconut oil or baby oil.

Jen8888 · 17/11/2020 17:24

The Ordinary

Natural Moisturising Factors

Or simply "NMF" by those in the industry

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 17/11/2020 17:25

If it's really bad chemical reaction, I'd try olive oil or coconut oil. Once you've stabilised, try adding in other things.

V sensitive skin person with exzcema here - can't use anything with any level of SPF as it gets in my eyes and inflames them - most make up does as well, and wearing contact lenses is never comfortable (wear them just for heavy gym training).

I use Nivea. I find most other face creams unbearable

paraffinwax · 17/11/2020 17:38

vaseline

Branleuse · 17/11/2020 17:42

is your skin actually dry or does it just feel dry to you?
If you are used to moisturising, it can take a bit of time to get used to how your skin feels naturally, but it might not be as dry as you think.
Also, taking omega 3 oils is more likely to help your skin from the inside, than any external product

Double base gel is very basic but I’ve used it for years and really like it. You can get a huge bottle for about a tenner. It says on the bottle that it can be used for itchy or inflamed skin.

teta · 17/11/2020 18:44

I have similar issues. Have you tried Blephasol for your eyes? When mine flare up I use this to clean my eyes and it really helps sooth them. Ironically eye drops can actually make blepharitis worse.

Cerave cream or lotion is very soothing for dry skin . The one with SPF can be irritating to eyes but I find Clinique city block a completely non irritating tinted SPF and it can be used in top of a moisturiser.

I've been taking fish oil or linseed oil capsules for over a year because they're supposed to help with dry eyes. I'm not sure whether they do because I'm too reluctant to stop😄
My skin feels unpleasantly tight and raw especially round the mask area but it looks ok so it probably is just getting used to going without moisturiser for the first time in 40 years. It feels better now I've got the CeraVie on this evening.
I had to stop wearing make up as well MissMarple. I tried false lashes for an occasional night out thinking - everyone wears them so hard can it be? Let's just say they weren't a success😂 Neither were the magnetic ones. I hate it really. I just look as if I couldn't be bothered.
I've given up all eyelid wipes in favour of a warm washcloth after my heated eye mask teta. My blepharitis is apparently really well controlled when the optician last had a look but I have to keep on top of it.
Thanks for all your comments and help.

I've only used coconut oil or olive oil.for years now due to sensitive skin..

idril · 17/11/2020 22:12

On similar lines to coxonut oil or olive oil, you could try argan oil. Supposed to ne the least comodogemic oil.

User415373 · 17/11/2020 22:12

The ordinary. I use their calming oil it's amazing.

throwaway100000 · 17/11/2020 22:14

Dermol 500 lotion

Sundaypolodog · 17/11/2020 22:15

Try this

throwaway100000 · 17/11/2020 22:17

I’m not sure if you need a prescription for it (don’t think so) as I had it prescribed after 1. A rash/reaction to another product leaving my skin sore and red, and 2. Dry skin/borderline eczema as a reaction to a product.

ImaSababa · 17/11/2020 22:17

Almond oil. I swear by it. I paid about 6 quid for a litre of the stuff and use it as a face and hair moisturiser. I also put it on my c-section scar.

Bluebell79 · 17/11/2020 22:38

Have a look at the Pai brand, very good for sensitive skin and 90days returns if your skin flares up, the customer service is excellent.
