How to plump/tighten skin

So I have this area on both sides of my face which have really become prominent in the last couple of months. They are almost circular in shape but are I presume where the skin has lost it's tightness around the eye area. I'm 39 so I know it's natural for skin to start losing its suppleness. What can I do to even this out. It's really starting to bother me and when I'm on my work meetings in zoom it's all I can focus on as the area looks so noticeable on camera and makes my face look lumpy.
Do I need a plumping cream/serum in the area around the eye where it looks sunken or does it need some form of tightening cream or collagen? Or could the cause be something more internal?
Thanks x

You have beautiful skin and look a lot younger than 39. You dont have any wrinkles
I’m not sure there is a cream that could help with the loss of ‘volume’ but if you were one to the idea maybe tear trough fillers and cheek filler could help?
People often use retinol there’s some good info available online and on the Caroline Hirons Facebook page x

Chocachocaholic · 17/11/2020 14:55

Thanks @KingdomofIsolation I am using a retinol serum I started about a month ago. I will take a look at that Facebook page!
I have thought about fillers but don't know much about them. I'll look into tear and cheek filler. Thank you :-) x

The results of tear trough ones can look amazing. I’m too scared though I have dark hollows and I prob need it but I’m a bit squeamish 🤣

Girlintheframe · 17/11/2020 19:28

You look fantastic and your skin looks beautiful and glowy!
A good Hyluronic acid with a moisturizer on top would help plump the skin a bit.

Chocachocaholic · 17/11/2020 19:57

@KingdomofIsolation I'm also squeamish and have a needle phobia too so not sure I could go ahead but I'm going to look into it.

@Girlintheframe thank you :-) I really thought I had a good skincare routine and I think I have my mums genes re general lines etc. But I just seem to be getting these sunken patches so think they def need plumping. Does hylauranic actually pump? I thought it was just a moisturiser. My night and day creams both have hylauranic acid but I presume I need something more concentrated? X

I could have written your post OP. I'm actually booked into get cheek fillers next month and I can't wait, but I will recommend a couple of products that may help you feel better in the meantime :)

Facetheory make a collagen boosting serum called polypep and it's pretty good. Also, I recently subscribed to Dermatica for a prescription of tretinoin and I have to say, I've seen definite firming and smoothing already in a low dose (but I have been using retinol for a while so my skin is used to it)

What I also read was that tear troughs aren't always necessary, sometimes a cheek filler is enough to lift and the tear troughs are resolved.

GrumpyHoonMain · 17/11/2020 20:06

Tear troughs or botox could help maybe. I don’t think you can get the plumping effect you need in any other way. I sympathise because I have uncle fester type shadows around my eyes - I found using at least spf 100 does prevent them from getting worse so maybe start that with your retinol regime.

Chocachocaholic · 17/11/2020 20:54

Thanks @Treacletoots I will look at both of those suggestions. I hope your cheek fillers go well! I think i need to bite the bullet for the longer term as I don't think there are any potions and lotions which will give me what I want.

@GrumpyHoonMain I will def be continuing with the retinol as I am finding it's helping other areas plus I have patches of Malasma which it is helping. I do use a factor 50 everyday alongside that I didn't realise you could get one as high as 100, I will look into that for sure especially in summer when my Malasma really becomes more noticeable.

What retinol serum do you use?

Buggedandconfused · 17/11/2020 21:57

Face yoga/exercises would really help. You are young enough for this to make a real difference. Get those face muscles moving! Look on YouTube...

throwaway100000 · 17/11/2020 21:59

I don’t think it’s a tear trough issue, google malar bags/lines, do you think this is what you have? If so, it’s difficult to treat with filler unfortunately

Hyaluronic acid can hold 1000 xs its weight of water.
I have fine lines in the same area and use a Hyaluronic acid with a moisterizer on top. It definitely softens and plumps the lines. Though my lines tend to become more visible when my skin is dehydrated so maybe that's why it works.
If you actually lost volume in that area then a filler is probably the only way to add the volume back.
I think you great how you are though understand how sometimes things can look worse to ourselves then to others.

Face yoga. Seriously. It works.

Thanks @StrippedFridge

JMAngel1 · 19/11/2020 05:52

Try putting on 5 pounds first before you go down the filler route.
I struggle with exactly this and find if I go below 8 stone, I can look gaunt. I’m only 5foot 3 and my best clothes weight is 7 stone 10 but my best face weight is 8 stone 3. You just need to find your best face weight.
Also consider collagen powder - it definitely helps me plus microneedling once a week to stimulate collagen production.

Chocachocaholic · 19/11/2020 21:54

Thanks for the face yoga suggestion. I will look into it.
@JMAngel1 in already overweight - I'm trying to lose more than that lol 😂

@throwaway100000 they don't seem like those pictures but I guess could be the beginning. I'll keep them in mind! I'd definitely be looking to try and rectify before they get to the point of some of the images in google.

throwaway100000 · 19/11/2020 22:10

Hopefully it’s not! If it is, I’m not saying you have to get anything done but your plan is a good idea. Sometimes you can’t get filler when the indents are too pronounced due to unwanted swelling making the area look worse not better, so better to correct sooner rather than later
