How to improve scarring

I fainted last week and managed to hit the kitchen table which has left me with a cut within my right eyebrow that follows the online of the eyebrow but then carries on lower. I had it glued together and some of the glue is now starting to come away showing the scarring which i have been left with.

How can I help this scarring heal? I’m guessing I can’t do much yet as the glue/scab is still mostly on and where then bits of scab have fallen off it stings.

Is there anything I can do to minimise this scar? I have never had a scar before so not sure what to do or expect with the healing.

Try Bio oil, it is supposed to be good for scars.

Silicone scar patch is your best bet but it will fade a lot. I had a big spinal op and you have to squint to see the scar now! SPF too

Also me healed derma rolling is good

Massage with bio oil or crack open a vitamin E capsule. You can also buy scar healing plasters at boots - they have a range.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Silicone scar patches, spf, and massage using some kind of oil (in my experience it didn't make any difference what it was). My physio was kind enough to do some massage around mine when I was seeing her anyway and it gave me the confidence to continue doing it (my scar is on my neck). It probably matters less at this time of year, and would be harder to do on your face but I kept mine physically covered if out and about in the sun.

Savlon advanced healing gel works well on my dd'd skateboarding injuries.

I hope you spoke to the Dr about fainting and why it happened?

Ingvermama · 13/11/2020 12:42

The scar is still really fresh and will fade lots, will take a few months.

@bellagogosdead thank you, I fainted during a gallstone attack for which I am waiting to speak to surgical outpatients.

@Ingvermama I think it’s because for some reason I thought when the scab went it would look better as I haven’t really had any injuries like this before and so didn’t know what to expect but you are right it is only fresh. It doesn’t help that it’s right next to my eye as I find it really noticeable when looking in the mirror.

Oh god, yes gallstones are the pits! Been there got the scars!
Take good care of yourself.

Time and this stuff. I had 18 stitches in my forehead after tripping up a flight of stairs. I have no scar at all now.

Either IS Clinical Sheald Recovery Balm or Heal Gel, both from Victoria Health applied generously twice a day. Both have been formulated for use after plastic surgery but are expensive. The one that @helloxhristmas recommends looks similar to these. Your scar will heal best and be least noticeable if you don't let it dry out. Protect it from the sun for at least a year.

Silicone strips (you can cut them to size) from Amazon, might be tricky in an eyebrow though.

I wouldn't put Bio-oil or any other oil, unless it was recommended by a plastic surgeon, on a facial scar. My scar is also on my forehead.
