Is Opalex worth it if you don't bleach your hair?

Dd wants opalex for Christmas but she dosn't bleach her hair and it is thick, strong and long. Is it worth it? If so, what numbers?

My hair on the other hand is thin, fine and weak. Worth it for us to share?!

I’ve recently started using olaplex. My hair isn’t bleached but is coloured to cover the grey (late 40’s) . I purchased a trial kit, they are very small tubes, they contain numbers 3,4,5,6. I have used them all and I think they def make a difference to my hair. It’s shiny and easy to blow dry. Would it be worth it for your DD..who knows but if you can get a small trial kit she can give it a go. It’s very spendy but a little goes a long way. I have shoulder length hair and a pea size of shampoo is all it takes. It very concentrated.

I use no 3 on my 7 and 9 year olds hair - which is long and thin and blonde (natural) - they have very snaggy hair that tangles easily and it is brilliant for them. I tried it (not dyed thick hair in reasonable condition) and it was nice but not wow. For my children it’s worth it - saves us so many tears detangling.

I have long thick hair that's usually shiny and in good condition but struggling this year - needed a cut at the start of lockdown and then hairdressers reopened the day I had a baby so still haven't made it. A friend gave me a bottle of no 3, I've only used it once but it did make my hair feel lovely, like I'd just been to the hairdresser.

Where did you get the trial kit Anjo?

cardoon · 11/11/2020 15:11

I am sitting here with my 1st dose of No3 on my thick, fine, weak hair.
I got a kit of 4 x 100ml (No's 3/4/5/6) from spaceNK
Fingers crossed it will sort out breakages and baby hair at the back!

I don’t bleach my hair but it was a big damaged from too much heat. I gave up the heat and used Olaplex regularly and I think Olaplex has helped. All the new growth is healthy as it’s not been subject to styling, but I think the Olaplex has helped the damaged ends too. It’s expensive but effective. However if your DDs hair is already in great condition and not damaged I’m not sure how much it would help - it’s marketed as a bond repairer for damaged hair rather than a conditioning treatment. If she already has healthy hair maybe a high end mask for shine and moisture would be more worthwhile?

cardoon · 11/11/2020 16:03

Just done 4/5/6 now, hair feels and smells great, air drying
Anjo is right....a pea sized amount is plenty Blush

PatchworkElmer · 11/11/2020 16:05

I really like Olaplex 3- I have thick, curly hair, and it’s done wonders for the condition. I don’t dye my hair, but I do dry it with a diffuser in the winter so it probably had some heat damage. You’re likely to have some damage from environmental conditions, tying up etc- so it should help anyone, though the results won’t be as ‘wow’ as those on bleached hair.

cardoon · 11/11/2020 16:13

Now I'm wondering if I need No7 - the oil?

iwanttolookbetter · 11/11/2020 16:13

Thank you Anjo!

Anjo2011 · 11/11/2020 16:42

No worries. I would try the trial kit and see how you like it. I really like the 6, I put it on damp hair before blow drying. I’m no expert but would guess that continued use of the set will improve the hair. I wouldn’t dive in and buy big bottles straight away just in case you don’t like it, it would be an expensive purchase/mistake. Many of the online beauty sites will have lots of Black Friday offers coming up and I’m sure you will be able to pick up a decent set with some discount.
Just a side note, my hairdresser charges £15 for a treatment, I’m not sure what ‘numbers’ this involves and I’m sure numbers one and two are salon only use hence them not bring in the kit. As a home treatment I’m enjoying using it.

iwanttolookbetter · 11/11/2020 17:53

Definitely sounds worth a try on my frazzled ends!

earsup · 12/11/2020 00:06

I have used no.3 in the past and now trying the shampoo but no real difference noted ! Hair feeling a bit greasy which never did before.

Is DDs hair dry, split-endy, frizzy or dull looking? If it is then I’d say it’s worth it. If not I’m not sure it would make a great deal of difference. For yours it could well be good. I have thin, brittle and dry hair and after two treatments with the 0 and 3 combo it already has some shine and looks thicker.
