Thinning hair - anyone tried supplement Florisene?

Cariocbirello · 10/11/2020 20:32

My hair seems to be thinning all over - not massively obvious to anyone else I don’t think, but noticeable to me. I think it fits the description of CTE (chronic telogen effluvium) - lots of shedding, thinner pony tail etc.

Has anyone tried the iron supplement Florisene for CTE and would like to share their results - good, bad or indifferent? I have started taking this but the box says it may take up to 6 months to see a difference, anyone persevered that long and had good results?

Would also welcome recommendations for anything else you have found effective for CTE.

I’ve diagnosed myself with TE after hair thinning not noticeable to anyone else YET but ponytail is half the thickness and it’s coming out in clumps when I was and brush.
I’ve just bought hairburst 35+ women’s hIr capsules they have got reviews.
Il wait and see how I go..

Ok, great idea.
I have been taking Florisene for 2 weeks so far 🤞

Hi might not be related but one of the side effects of covid is thinning hair especially in women, the same has happened to me, my grandparents had visited wuhan very early on in the virus and I had pneumonia along with my dad, grandad and other close friends and family ill, we think it was more than likely covid now (I'm a severe asthmatic) and it was one of the worst hospitalisations I've had. I have been on high dosage medication ever since so weight gain but also I noticed a fair bit of hair loss for my young age. So maybe see if it's connected. Despite family members working public health and me also essential, I'm yet to see if I have had it via an antibody test.

Cariocbirello · 10/11/2020 23:49

That’s interesting, thanks Ghosts2020, I wasn’t aware of that side effect. As far as I know I haven’t had COVID - at least I haven’t had any symptoms, although I know it’s still possible to have had it without feeling ill.

I've taken Florisene. My hair started to thin after I had flu about 18 months ago and my ferritin level fell quite low! I think I took it for about 6 months and it definitely helped! I still get some hair loss now (blame the menopause) and I have taken Nourkrin which also helps, although it's expensive!

user1474462227 · 11/11/2020 11:54

Hi, I’ve been taking them on and off for 15 yrs. Diagnosed by Trichologist that I have low ferritin levels. It definitely helped. My hair came back. You need to take them for 3months before you see a difference. To maintain my level now,I take 1 tablet every night.

DianaT1969 · 11/11/2020 12:09

Have you had your blood tested? Thriva do the main ones that could be a cause (vitamin Bs, thyroid, vitamin D etc). That's assuming you can't get blood tests on the NHS. By the way, my hair became noticeably thicker when I stopped dying it. If you're dying it, that's the first thing I would stop.

justanotherneighinparadise · 11/11/2020 12:11

I’m taking Nourikon and Minoxidil 5%. I already feel a million times better about my hair as I’m going something about the shedding.

Cariocbirello · 11/11/2020 16:16

Thanks everyone, some encouraging responses.

I haven’t had a blood test. I did have very low Vit D a few years ago & had a prescription for very strong Vit D supplements. I might trying buying some more - I didn’t know that low levels were linked to hair loss

I have the same - exactly as you describing. No bald patches and I'm no longer losing loads of strands but it's an overall thinning and Yep, a thin ponytail

I don't have low iron which I know for a fact. I'm not deficient in anything - again I know this. So I do think it's just 'one of those things' - I had it previously 8 years ago and then suddenly - it stopped. Lasted about 6 months though or longer

I've been taking Lumity supplements and a vitamin D 4000mg (or whatever the dosage is!) My vitamin D levels are fine but I take it daily to keep levels up .

But who actually knows what will work? Do you just ride it out and see? After lockdown I plan to visit a Lucinda Ellery salon and have some medi-connection extensions maybe.

throwaway10000 · 11/11/2020 16:30

I think a lot of people have started to suffer from Telogen effluvium thanks to the stressful impact of this weird year.

Definitely get blood tests to check your levels. There’s various tests from thyroid/other hormones, to vitamins and ferritin. You could be low on something that you’re not aware of.

throwaway10000 · 11/11/2020 16:31

Reducing stress is key as that is the trigger for TE. Supplements, water and good diet etc will help your body produce new regrowth though!

IceniWarrior · 11/11/2020 17:28

Can you get private blood tests?

candycolours · 17/02/2021 13:07

Hi,
I would love to know how you got on with Florisene ? How long did it take to stop your hair shedding ? Thank you x

workshy44 · 17/02/2021 13:24

I am taking MSM which is supposed to cause increased hair growth (anecdotally) and is for something entirely different. My hair is definitely growing way faster. I had severe hair breakage and loss all of a sudden and my hair was not great to begin with
Hair breakage was above my ears and within just over three weeks it was below. I am also taking collagen
I have order the MSM crystals apparently it can be used topically - I'll post back with an update as while my hair is growing faster , not sure too much new hair is growing yet as I am only a month in

workshy44 · 17/02/2021 13:26

Oh an using Watermans shampoo etc too. I think that helped with the shedding initially too

curious100 · 10/03/2021 09:25

I have CTE and been recommended florisene. The tablets are so very huge and so hard. Has anyone had them in small pieces or soaked in water? Thank you

goldielockdown2 · 10/03/2021 20:32

Is florisene prescribed or can you buy it in Holland&Barrett or online?

Cariocbirello · 10/03/2021 21:52

candycolours I’ve had an improvement - less shedding / thinning

curious100, I took the tablets whole.

goldilockdown2 you can buy over the counter at pharmacies & from Amazon
