Hi I need help with my hair please

It seems to be constantly falling out and I'm only 36 🙈 I like it longer but I do wear it up most of the time as it's easier with 2 young kids. Is wearing it up bad for the hair?

I dye it every 6 weeks but nothing wise

What am I doing wrong? Oh and it gets trimmed yes

Nothing else not nothing wise

Every time I put my fingers through my hair some comes out. And every night just before my shower when I take the hair and out it's covered in hair

I wash it every other day

It looks like you've not lost g had a baby?

Post partum hairloss as the growth hormones reduce is quite common I think? It should settle down.

Jayaywhynot · 10/11/2020 22:53

Try Plantur 39, there's a shampoo, conditioner and a hair tonic.
I just use the hair tonic £10 in Boots, put it on my roots every night.
My hair was falling out and receding and I have hair growing back where my hair was receding.
Also, try eating a portion of avocado & a few almonds a day, that's a dietary tip someone gave me, my hair is growing back and it's thickening.
Also, don't tie your hair up as it puts strain on the roots

How old is your youngest? I think post part in hair loss peaks at around 5/6 months and then settles down. Could that be the cause? I generally shed a lot of hair but it was very noticeable for a while and now is back to normal (DS is 14 months)

I've been taking biotin (solgar) for a couple of months now. I was loosing lots of hair thanks to menopause and thyroid issues. I've noticed considerably less loss since the biotin.
I used to notice it mainly when washing my hair. I also wear mine up 5 days out of 7. Make sure your using good quality bands that won't drag or pull the hair too.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 11/11/2020 07:10

Maybe its breaking rather than falling out ? Do you dye all the hair or just the roots every 6 weeks ? Are you washing it daily? Are you tying it up very tightly?

userxx · 11/11/2020 07:26

Wearing it up will not be helping, leave it down and see if that helps.

TikTakTikTak · 11/11/2020 07:31

If you do wear it up, be gentle, brush from the ends then up a little further each time and use a detangling spray if there's knots.
Get those hair bobbles which look like a phone cord and hair claws, and spiral pins instead of the type which pinch your hair.
It won't stop it falling out but you want to avoid pulling and breaking.

Sorry to speak off topic here, but look at those little baby eyes searching to connect with yours during the feed. That is so precious!

TherapyClient · 11/11/2020 08:55

As for your hair, would layers half a little? You've got quite natural bounce in your hair, which might lent itself to the movement you might get with the right kind of layers.
What does your hairdresser think?

Silverstreaks · 11/11/2020 09:08

If that is a recent photo of you with your baby then it's is post partum hair loss and it feels constant because it's happened twice (unless you've got more children not in the photo).

Try using a big clip/claw to keep your hair up rather than a tight band. Pile it instead of scraping it back. Those curly bands are good.

Dyeing can have an effect on hair loss but in your case I think it's post partum. It will stop, it will grow again. Eat well and look after yourself.

Hi. Consider getting your ferratin levels checked. My hair was falling out and has been a lot better since taking iron supplements.

rosesareredxxx · 11/11/2020 13:28

Hi thanks all for the replies

Yes the baby is 3 months old so could be that I guess

My hair doesn't look great down unless it's straightened which I can't be doing that every day. So maybe I should get a big clip like someone said rather than a hair band or I could even chop it off but the prob with that is shorter hair requires much more maintenance. It's all such a faff!!

It’s definitely the baby! Someone told me it’s because u don’t lose hair during pregnancy /it grows thicker so the loss afterwards is just rebalancing. Still feels rubbish though! But it should level off. Gorgeous kids congrats!
