Plastic hair rollers and pins

Okay so this might be an odd thing to ask and it is my first post. I have natural shoulder length very curly hair and over the years I have tried absolutely everything to tame it; curling wands, hot sticks, brushes, heated rollers ......just about everything. I must have spent hundreds of pounds over the years - yes really! But the thing that works best are old-fashioned plastic rollers with plastic pins to keep them in place then sit under a hood hairdryer for 20 minutes. Much much kinder on my hair as it doesn't tangle and fall out and the curls hold for several days without needing to touch them. But I find it agonising put the pins in, no matter what I do I stick them in my head or scratch my scalp - there must be a better way to do this. Can anyone out there give me any direction to make it less painful please.

You need grips with cushioned plastic ends like these.
I have same sort of hair & have an ancient Pifco hood hairdryer that I bought back in the seventies, nothing beats it.

Ah ha great idea - thank you I have just sent for some. Yes - I also use a Pifco hood dryer and have a soft hood for travelling, nothing beats it.

I find those foam ones with the clip over bits always leave dents in my hair.

Would love to find some big rollers that are not like that or velcro as they pull my hair out.
