Just started enlighten at home treatment with the sleep in trays. First day and I can feel a tiny bit of sensitivity already Shock bit worried about how much worse it’s going to get!

Has anyone tried enlighten and got any tips on how they dealt with the sensitivity? I’m rubbing sensodyne on my teeth after brushing, not sure if there’s anything else you can do?

I have had the same problem, I find normal Sensodyne no good, I use Sensodyne ProNamel toothpaste which is stronger.
Also use the trays alternative nights maybe.

Try putting your sensitive toothpaste in the trays (once you've washed out your whitening gel) and go to bed with them in, smeared in the toothpaste. It does help, the sensitive toothpaste works better given prolonged contact with teeth.

I got some whitening gel from the dentist to use overnight but the sensitivity was intolerable. I ended up using it for four hours during the day instead.

I agree with @Polecat03, when I was using the trays the pain was ridiculous, as in sensitivity when I wasn't even drinking or eating, they suggested replacing the gel with sensitive teeth toothpaste, it only took one night for it to get sorted.

Sensodyne rapid relief is the best

Thanks, I think my teeth are super sensitive, already drinking juice through a straw now as I get a slight twinge after 1 night.

I did email enlighten and ask what the minimum time to wear the trays overnight was and they said min 3 hr but the longer the better Confused

I think I’ll wear them for 6 hours then wake up and replace the gel with sensodyne for the rest of the night, I have pronamel and rapid relief so will try them both (I’m well prepared Smile)

I had this too but i persevered and the extreme sensitivity only lasted a couple of days. In fact, it was at its worst the first morning after i removed them.

Fingers crossed the pain goes away.

Put sensitive toothpaste on but don't wash it off!

Twinkie01 · 10/11/2020 09:10

My dentist says not to whiten your teeth for any longer than 2 hours at a time. What strength is the stuff you are using?

Chillichutney1 · 10/11/2020 14:08

@Twinkie01 the first syringe which is to be used overnight for 7 days is 10% and the second syringe to be used on the second week is 16%.

Enlighten have said to use for 3 hours minimum

When I first started I used too much gel so it must’ve got on my gums, so I used less and it stopped hurting.

Good trick about the toothpaste too
