Revlon hairdryer and volumiser ....is it good?

I got a Babyliss rotating big hair thing ages ago and never got on with it, my hair seems to get caught up in it.

This looks more controllable as you have to rotate it yourself rather than the brush spinning round.

Does it work, is it good, is it easy to master? I’ve seen a video on tiktok and it looked straight forward but then the video on Amazon had the woman sectioning and pinning hair, etc and it looked a faff.

Do you mean the hot air styler? I do like it, it’s not hard to master but to get half decent results you do need to section. I just split my hair into a top half and bottom half and split each half into four. There’s two models now, the newer one is a slightly smaller size but all the reviews I’ve read of it say that the air doesn’t get diffused through the whole barrel.
I’ve got the big hair too, which just edges it for me.
Pros of babyliss - better if I’m in a rush, gives more curly volume.
Pros of revlon - hair gets caught less (though it does still pull some hair out) and it does give a slightly sleeker look.

The One step one?

Yeah that’s the one! I do like it, but I only get one look out of it, whereas with the babyliss one I think there’s more flexibility.
I paid 32 for it on Amazon prime day so unless you’re in a rush, I’d probably wait til Black Friday and you’ll save another 10% odd.

Following this post as I’ve been reading up on both the revlon & babyliss ones.

AbstractDot · 08/11/2020 23:12

I love both. Revlon for smoother styles and babyliss for shape.

MrDarcysMa · 09/11/2020 00:10

Yes you need to section it but it works. Not great for volume/ shape it's more like using a hairdryer tbh

nixso29 · 09/11/2020 00:24

Yes I got one on Amazon Prime day thinking if it didn't really work well at least I haven't spent too much money on it....oh my word its the best invention ever!!! Literally haven't used my normal hairdryer/straighteners since it arrived! I have nightmare fuzzy hair and this gives me swishy 'like you've just stepped out of the saaaalon' hair (remember that advert? I loved it lol) it is so easy to use and honestly for me it was worth every penny and I would have been happy paying full price for it aswell

AWafferthinmint · 09/11/2020 00:28

I LOVE mine, I have really thick hair and can blow dry it in about 10 minutes flat and looks half decent. Wouldn't be without it, my hairdryer and straighteners are now relegated to the bottom of the wardrobe.

BackToWhereItAllBegan · 09/11/2020 00:32

I bought one years ago and after one use, consigned it to my appliance graveyard. I've recently grown my hair a little longer so I decided to give it another go - it's amazing!!! It's so easy to use, I just pin up the top layer of my hair while I dry underneath then dry the top layer. It's much quicker than using a hairdryer and haven't had any problems with hair getting tangled or caught up in it. I now have lovely smooth but swishy hair with no need for straighteners.

MrDarcysMa · 09/11/2020 10:16

It's worth saying too it's best to air dry hair first or it'll take longer to do it from very wet! I wait until my hair is almost dry then finish/ smooth it off with the brush.

Pros of BaByliss – better if I’m in a rush, gives more curly volume
Pros of Revlon – hair gets caught less and it does give a slightly sleeker look

Totally agree. I have a shoulder length bob, which is fairly straight. The BaByliss does the job slightly quicker than the Revlon, and definitely gives plenty of curl and volume, which can leave me looking a touch too “bouffant” if I’m not careful. But if you’re going for Big Hair, then this is the product for you. The Revlon, while taking a few mins longer, definitely gives a sleeker finish, with a gentle curve at the ends of your hair, instead of a curl. But regardless of which one I’m using, I pin up the top section of my hair while drying/styling the underneath. I just tie up the top section with a scrunchy, no drama!

CandleWick4 · 09/11/2020 11:15

I have one, long wavy to curly hair which isn’t too thick but I have a lot. I like it, dries my hair quickly but I still have to style over it. I can’t just use that and leave my hair, if I want it straight I still have to go over with my straightens and if I want it curly I still have to wand it.

Coffeepot72 · 12/11/2020 18:52

Another product worth mentioning is Babyliss Sheer Volume, it’s a rotating hot brush. It doesn’t blow any air out. So if I blast dry my hair and then go through it with the BSV, that’s quite a good finish too - smooth, with a nice curve at the ends and not as bouffant as Babyliss Big Hair.

iwanttolookbetter · 12/11/2020 20:37

I can use mine without any sectioning required and it lets me get my hair as my hairdresser gets it in not much time at all. Only problem for me is I have flatish hair and don't love how my hairdresser does it but it's the best hair gadget I've ever bought in that it produces a hairstyle quickly and easily with very little effort.

Isol · 12/11/2020 20:41

No!!!

I brought one on here having seen people rave about it. I have long hair - with time and a hairdryer looks great. With straightening looks fine. With that awful invention it looked frizzy, puffy and scarecrow like. It would have been better left to dry naturally.

Tempnamelady · 12/11/2020 20:43

I love it , I’ve got long fine hair and it looks sleek after using the one step, would like a bit more volume Maybe as I find drying the roots a bit hard .
