Please can someone help - chunky knit crisis

I will admit crisis is perhaps a tad dramatic......

I want a warm jumper. Not a fine knit, a chunky long jumper which looks ok on teams calls but helps me stay warm. Ideally teal or green but with a bit of colour anyway. Not crew neck but good with most other neck lines.

Easy you think. Pages of choice you think. Sadly not.

I am allergic to wool. I can bear a cashmere/cotton blend but that's generally fine knit. Most of my knitwear is fine knit cotton and I want something chunkier and warmer. I also can't abide acrylic - it squeaks and looks like a dish rag and isn't warm. So rock/hard place

I had thought of fully embracing the synthetic and going for a long baggy chenille type jumper but the only one I can find that is in stock and not cropped is out on my size (14/16)

Help please

I recently bought two of these from Superdry, they are a cotton cashmere mix and chunkier than they look in photos. Very cosy and warm, come in plenty of colours. Another option is to look at TK Maxx.

So I have a potential thanks to this thread which is from esprit. However, only a medium in stock and I suspect at a 14 I'd need a large?

I like a lot of these, thank you. It's always an issue which I think will only be solved by wearing layers. I have just ordered yet another thermal top so that may helpGrin

And for the person who asked, I'm good with all cotton and viscose and some polyester. I can wear acrylic but I don't like it (it's crispy!). Some of it is allergy related and some is sensory issues especially around my legs. It took me till I was 40 to manage tights and only then if I size up. Honestly, it's tough as I rule out so many things because I can't stand wearing them.

Not always! I get a mix of M and L.

When I have very specific criteria like that, I go to eBay and see what I can find e.g:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303757150205
Or
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184514645552

Thanks SoupDragon.

I went for this in the end:

www.esprit.co.uk/p/with-cashmere--oversized-polo-neck-sweater-100EE1I321_299.html

It's a bit of a blend and a bit of a compromise but hopefully may work. As it was 30% off I got two - the green in m and the pink in l. I did like the cream but I've got 2 cream jumpers already and I live in constant fear of dropping my lunch down them as it is.

Thanks everyone

I was after a chunky knit cardigan and asked in here and someone recommended the Knotty Ones - I love my new cardigan! They have jumpers too and a couple of cotton ones (although maybe only one that isn't sold out)

Love that jumper but the price Shock
Those knitted knickers!Grin

SoupDragon · 09/11/2020 08:36

For some reason I can't see what you went for but as it says "oversize" I think a M will be absolutely fine. I'm wearing a black knitted hoody from there today and it's a M and I'm a size 14 normally. Whenever I order I often get both M and L and return whichever I don't want.

tinkiiev · 09/11/2020 11:22

Yeah the knitted knickers are a step too far for me Grin

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 09/11/2020 11:28

Have you tried Free People, they always have lovely chunky knitwear in but not sure of materials.

nevertrustaherdofcows · 09/11/2020 13:07

I'd go for cashmere. It is astonishingly warm for the weight, and there is loads of choice. Whistles, for example:

www.whistles.com/product/cashmere-cable-knit-28444.html#q=cashmere&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&pid=cashmere-cable-knit-28444&pos=20

A medium firs me and i am larger than you.

Ahh! I can testify to The Knotty Ones as well. Well worth the money, and they are having a small Black Friday sale right now.
I got their "Laumes" jumper and literally haven't taken it off for days now. It's the best thing I own :)
