Hair straightener recommendations

After years and years of having GHDs, I've decided to look into buying some new straighteners.
I'm not sure if mine have lost power or something, but its not making much of a difference.
I've got thick fine hair, that easily goes frizzy. Sometimes I need to straighten twice, which is bad.

So has anyone got any recommendations?
I don't really want to spend much more than £100.

Thanks

Cloud 9 but they are more expensive

Have you given yours a clean with some alcohol wipes? Maybe they've got some residue and aren't gliding through the hair so well - also, have you removed all silicone residue from your hair lately? Mine goes all weird and resistant when I've got build up, as I have to use a lot of product to beat it into submission so I clear it (with clarifying shampoo) and start over every 2-3 weeks.

I have similar hair - fine-ish but tons of it, and it's very pouffy and frizzy naturally. I still use my ghd's, but I also invested £25 in one of those cheap rip-off straightening brushes - they can't straighten our hair, of course they can't, but it's taken a ton of the effort out of smoothing it after washing rather than setting about a massive frizzy mop with straighteners.

These days I put some detangler on it after washing, some KMS therma-shape spray, rough dry it, spritz a bit more spray then run the straightening brush through it. Use Ghd's to tweak the fluffy bits, job done. Takes 10 mins rather than 30!

@CarinaMarina thanks for the tips. I was looking at those hair straightening brushes.

I will give my GHDs a good clean, get some new shampoo and see how it goes.

My GHDs are old, might be time to invest in a new pair

I have cloud9 straightners - i waited until they were on offer but they've been a great buy

Kipozi wide plates. I got them after a mumsnet recommendation.

I replaced my GHDS with cloud 9 last year.
I got the originals and really like how you can alter the temp. My hair is fine but frizzy so used to straighten it on the hottest setting then only needed a touch up on a lower setting on the other days.

I like my Kipozi, they’re equally as good as my old GHDs but no idea how they compare to cloud9, which are far more expensive.

Just had a look at the Kipozi ones. Are they really as good as GHDs? Nothing else has been able to cope with my hair before...

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2020 15:23

I would say better because the temp goes up to 220c.

My Kipozi are certainly as good as my old ghds but they were 8 yrs old by the time they died. Not sure how they compare to newer ones.
